Just flown back in from Mexico to Manchester, can anyone give me any news on the Barrett V Szabo fight?

Who have they got lined up for him next?

I called a friend in Galway and he said that he had heard barrett won..
    What round or distance?

He also told me that he had heard the Security at the show were more stringent than the airports.

Beat the slovak lad giving him his 35th defeat (10th by stoppage... 3rd round). Dont have a clue if they have anyone lined up but one thing for sure is that it will be a step up. Maybe give him one or two more fights like this (in quick succession) and then put him in with a semi decent journeyman like one of Tyson Furys opponents / prizefighter participants. Then possibly and Irish title fight at some stage, that would generate a lot of interest.

There are some good heavyweights around the uk and Ireland at the minute so if his team played their cards right they could have him at 12-0 next year and look towards a big name fight: Rogan, McBride, Fury, Perez, or one of the bigger name British heavyweights.

I dont think security would be a major deal at a boxing event, always a good atmosphere at any of the ones ive been to but good to hear they were on the ball. Anyone get attendance figures or see the fights?

He also told me that he had heard the Security at the show were more stringent than the airports.

Maybe that's why there was only 250 people there then! Security was so tight that they could only let in that amount!

Strange that someone who was plugging a show non stop run by Walker Promotions under the name of walkerpromotion actually was in Mexico for the show and has to come on here to find out any info about it!

Was anyone there and if so did you manage to get he Slovak Rambo's autograph?

Your comedy act gets better and better.I know that the north of England is still pretty racist but this guy really seems to be running with the old stereotype of the "think Irish"

Are you for real ? What has security got to do with anything ?

Should you not be more concerned with the quality of the fighters/the promotion itself or how many suckers people paid good money to watch this muck ?

Were you not one of the posters telling everyone how great this was going to be ? I thought you'd be one of the first at the gate.

I was having a joke with you guys..I do believe the show was organised by Southpaw Promotions and the promoters were Francie Barrett and Keith Walker.

My Compnay in the Uk buy and promote walking clothing..Boots/hats/jackets/cliff hanging equipment etc...
    hence Walkerpromotion.

My friend who heard about the show said Coleman Barrett looked very good and that he said that his mate went along to the show and they were around 600 in the venue at least...He really enjoyed it and it was well organised.I wish I could of made it.Next time maybe.

I had heard the promoters were running again in 8 weeks in galway? can anyone clarify this for me

I gather that the attendance was expected to be more but there was a big traveller funeral on that weekend.Over 3000 went to the funeral I heard.

Once again you do seam not to get the message

IS YOUR REAL NAME mickoo or Cuckoo...

Walkerpromotion is my trade name for selling walking boots/clothing/hats/climbing gear not promoting boxing..It was a bit of fun you idiot...

The boxing promotion was under the banner of Southpaw promotions
and Promoters Francie Barrett and Keith Walker.

I just dont understand why you have such anger against a boxing show whoever ran it or how they ran it..

I bet you never have done anything in your life have you?

Listen francie or whatever your name is, its obvious your involved with the show and patronising us is not going to get you anywhere

Go back and do your junior cert and then you might be able to articulate yourself better and put on a show where the opponents are more than just punch bags, At least when all the cream crackers are available for the next show the venue will fill out, they wont cop on that the opponents are brutal just like they are also with there muck bare knuckle boxing, that wont bother you though as your not a pikey!

i played table tennis for ireland so, yes i have acheived something.

I think we can all agree that the show was poorly promoted with the worst headliner you could possibly have in the world.

Now Im sure Francis Barret did a good job promoting the show locally in Galway and in the boxing clubs to get people in, even if it was somewhere between 250-500 thats not bad considering

    1) its their first time promoting
    2) the opponents were a disgrace
    3) they were over charging
    4) People come on here and make a laughing stock of it.

I'm interested in Coleman Barret the fighter as I am with all Irish fighters. From boxrec i see he is now 7-0 and this was his first fight in a couple of years. Did he do much at amature level?
And what is next for Coleman Barret, who do you think he should be in with next.

I doubt anyone knows/cares given the quality of their last event, putting him in against a guy with a 2-34 record is a joke.
Now get this it to your thick head for once...I am not he promoter..

You obviously have something to gain from your attempts to promote this fight though, otherwise I don't believe theres any way you could be interested in it, they put a boxer in against a punch bag, how could that be interesting? Honestly your atempts to promote this fight are the poorest i've ever seen, you know enough about the guy to comment on him knocking out a load of Russians in training but you couldn't make the fight cause you were in Mexico ... lol
Then you go on to ask when these guys will put on another fight, why do you care, you can't honestly say that the standard of compitition is high, you would struggle to find a worse boxing event. Seriously, if you job isn't selling shoes or whatever then it would pay off to listen to what the people on here are telling you

You seem to be about the most sensible one on this site..I'd heard that Barrett had spoken to his manager Keith Walker and asked for Tyson Fury anytime.
My friend had spoken to keith Walker in a bar in town and aksed him how he would cope against Fury.
He would cope with Fury no problem, however no one will pressure us into any fights. They have there plan and we have ours.slowly move forward Barrett back into the mix over the next five fights. Barrett hasnt boxed for over 3 years.
I guess Walker has a point if he wants to get his man to the top.

I dont pretend to be anybody Walker. I wasnt aware that you needed photo ID and register under your full name date of birth and bank account number to contribute to a forum.

I chose Johnduddy as a login because I like the boxer - not because I am pretending to be him (cant believe I'm even explaining this to this idiot)

"Wasnt" people talking about trouble at the show ? I dont know if they "was" but this was not why I regarded it as a joke.

There were numerous 1 post wonders (that got banned for abusing people and mullti accounts I think ?) on here bigging this up like it was fight of the century and that the Coleman Barrett on the Main Event of the card was doing some kind of one man wrecking ball doing a clean sweep of the former Soviet Union in sparring. It was all thinly veiled rubbish and a poor attempt at trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes that knew better. Whether this was Francie or whoever it was I dont know but all they suceeded in doing was making themselves and this show look like an even bigger joke than it already was.

The reason these people are not getting a positve response to this is nothing to do with Francie Barret or Travellers or anything like it. I am sure many of the posters on here have experience coaching or training with travellers so this has absolutely nothing to do with anything. It is because it the promotion of this "event" was totally amateurish and unprofessional. "Slovak Rambo" headling a main event of a show and charging €50 is an insult to real boxing fans intelligence.

These are just some of the reasons Walker and there are many more which I dont have time to explain to you now as I am busy in WORK

    You take care now.

I will try to explain my interest in the show..

I was in and around Galway seeing clients (Shoe shops etc). I came across many clients with small flyers promoting the boxing. I aksed who the heavyweight Barrett was. One young sales assistant said he'd heard that Barrett was some relation to Francie Barrett, who I did not know either. He went on to explain. He then said that one of his mates from a gym nearby had said of Barrett knocking russians out in sparring. This then made me interested.
I then spoke about this boxing match to various other people throughout the week.I found the interest to be rather positive, due to this heavyweight having such a decent reputation according ot others.
It was a very good Ice breaker for me in and around Galway when everyone did seem to be in a dull mood with sales down everywhere.
One gentleman said, can you find out whether all this about russians and Barrett true.So I thought it would be a good idea to pretend I was involved in the promotion to get a true reading.Never imagining people where so outspoken and cruel to some extent.I did get some information that Barrett was sparring well in England but no Russians had been mentioned.I certainly wont be promoting thats for sure.
I probably have done some unfair promoting but not in a way to cause Southpaw promotions any grief.Mr Francis Barrett and Mr Keith Walker obviously no nothing about this.
I do like boxing and do hope Barrett makes the grade, because apart from the Minority on this website, they say Barrett is a true gentleman.

    Take care

Now based on the statement I have wrecked the credibility of Barrett, doesnt that sort of prove that most things we read don't have much substance most of the time and we should try and find the answer for ourselves than just accept what people write?
Do you not think Barrett will move forward with the team he has anyway regardless of what I say or do? Do not also think that if the Slovak Rambo was good enought for a sky show it should be good for a small hall show in Galway with no tv? I believe it was a Frank Maloney show?
Can you answer me this question. How far do you think Barrett will go.
    A sensible answer please?

    Thank you

Are you for real ? What has security got to do with anything ?

Should you not be more concerned with the quality of the fighters/the promotion itself or how many suckers people paid good money to watch this muck ?

Were you not one of the posters telling everyone how great this was going to be ? I thought you'd be one of the first at the gate.

Id say the security were probably as good as some of the boxers on show.

Instead of slagging of the shoe salesman/ part time promoter because he's probably busy in Mexico.... or was it Galway? Can we all talk about the future of Colie?? Looks quite bright, last guy was useless but not Colies fault is it? He just beats up whoever is put in front of him :). Let's hope he beats 4 or 5 decent opponents and he could be fighting the likes of Martin Rogan why not?

Now get this it to your thick head for once...I am not he promoter..

You will be telling me I own Walkers Crisps next you fool..

It was a bit of fun you idiot...

I bet you never have done anything in your life have you?

So obviously you can write, but you cant read. If you could then you'd have spotted the following in the charter, you know, the bit that you're supposed to read before posting-

"Personal abuse, racism etc. will lead to bannings, there is no need for it, so don’t do it."

    "STUPIDITY IS A BANNABLE OFFENCE"

Seriously Mods, this is low grade trolling and as long as ye allow it to go on then the worse it'll get.

I agree with you there. I meant maybe 6 or 7 more fights for Barrett and see how he's doing. Just looking at Slovak Rambo's record we knew he was just gonna stand there and get beaten up. 6 or 7 decent opponents like Colm Keane etc.

Hopefully you did'nt bring any pigs back from Mexico ?

I d'ont think I would give him a punchers chance against rogan.

He would be lucky to survive two rounds.
