Tone up with dumbells

    Hey,

I am training for the marathon but would like to tone up mainly my arms, chest and stomach at the same time. I could do with losing maybe 7/8 pounds but that should come from my running and improved diet.

I have a set of dumbells and would like to know what exercises people would recommend to tone up with these. I do not have a bench at present and I know this is useful for the chest exercises in particular, are there any that can be done on the floor or standing for chest?

How many different exercises should I do a day without pushing it?

    Thanks

    How much do they weigh?
    • Pushups on the dumbells combined with a one arm row at the top to first one side then the other
    • Shoulder Press
    • Front Raise
    • Lateral Raise
    • Hanging Leg raise (with a dumbbell between ankles), if you have something to hang from
    • Tricep Extension
    • Kurlz

.... and lots of normal press ups.

You can do lots with dumbbells.

    Legs: squats, lunges, stiffleg deadlift.
Back: deadlift, bentover row, pull-back. superman.
Chest: either on floor or lie on a couple of firm cushions. I use a workmans's toolbox. Bench press, fly, pull-over.
Shoulders: dumbell press, front raise, side raise, reverse fly, Arnolds, upright row,
Abs: weighted crunch, V-ups, Russian twist.
Biceps: Bet you already know all the curls.
Triceps: bench press with dbs touching. Kickbacks, overhead extensions, crossbody extensions, dips.
