The below link is Glen Ross Axel Pressing 366lbs at the Arnold Classic in 05 with absolutely no technique what so ever, just pure brute strength. Apparently, he has a huge knee problem, which is why he can't do the clean techique. It extraordinary that he's able to do this lift like this, a testiment to the pure strength the man possesses. I'd say if it came down to pure static raw strength, Glen would have won WSM - he always seemed to struggle in the events with large degrees of movement. Anyone know if he's still competing these days or what he's up to?

As far as I know he is still competing , he has moved into power lifting (I think) I saw him compete in a British comp on euro sport last year

His technique was pretty good. You can't clean an axle like you can a normal bar becaus 1) it's too thick, and 2) the ends don't rotate so your wrist would just snap. Look at any clean in strongman and it'll be similar. They're called continental cleans.

He competed in Britians strongest man this year, and for the last few.

Check out Zydrunas Savickas. When it comes to static strength in strongman, no one gets near him.

Oh right, wasn't aware of that!
