Highlights of the first round of the Draft will be shown on Sky Sports on Sunday April 26th (a day late).
Sky say that there is scheduling conflicts preventing the Draft going out live this year. Also, this highlights package is a direct feed from NFL Network so it will be Rich Eisen and co and not Kevin Cadle/Nick Hauling.

To watch the draft live http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/live/landing at 8.30pm (Irish Time) on Saturday 25th. Not sure what the picture quakity will be like seeing as it is streaming live TV!

Also, SkySports deal with the NFL expired at the end of February so at the moment there is no guarantee of live football next season. I'm sure this will be cleared up in time for start of season.

    HTH

cheers bud, hopefully some agreement is reached between sky and the nfl. i'd say they will do given games are bein played regularly outside the U.S now with the nfl lookin towards expandin the game globally!!

Yeah, it's a shame it won't be on Sky alright. I do hope they get it sorted out for next season of course! Though if TV3 want to take it over, that'd also be ok! Anyone know of any Draft parties?!

I read a post about the contract expiring for Sky & NFL coverage on the NFL UK forums, a guy posted and said he e-mailed Sky about it, apparently Sky have the contract through the 2011 season.

ESPN America who shows NFL everywhere in Europe except the UK and Ireland will be showing rounds 1 and 2 live so i'm good to go.

just checked espn americas schedule 4 next weekend and it has the boston v yankees game on while the draft is on, so that doesn't look good. where did ya hear that info oatsey?

    .

I read that thread as well but apparently "Hank" who's in charge of NFLUK stated that nothing has been signed yet and that the Sky Customer Service team were wrong to give that reponse.

I do wish they would give an indicator as to where they stand on the negotiations with Sky though

I'd be shocked if Sky did not take it this year and future years for that matter.

Having said that I gave up on Sky long ago and use Gamepass and/or P2P.

Oh yeah I agree. I'm not worrying on this deal since it's only April. If they haven't come to an agreement by July I'll start to worry though. Hopefully ESPN America might chip in with the NFL Primetime and NFL Countdown shows. I'm nowhere near worried as some people on NFLUK are!

NFL is the only reason i had Sky Sports, so if they don't strike a deal i don't really care, ESPN America are supposed to be interested in getting the contract for the UK & Ireland to go along with the rest of Europe..

    See here.

Everywhere in Europe with ESPN America bar the UK and Ireland will get Rounds 1 & 2 live(see 10pm).

Why are sky only showing highlights and not the live brodcast, they did it last year?

They cited scheduling conflicts as the reason.

Are nfl.com showing it for free?

If not i'll have to watch it on justin.tv

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74 ✭✭DaXiS

Yeah its free on nfl.com, they stream a lot of their big events(combine/draft..other stuff..)

They have to, loada people dont have NFL network so they are stuck with ESPN

Will the first pick be done at 8:30? I have to be somewhere at 9. 10 minutes each pick will get me to 9:40 for the raiders pick so I dont mind being fahionably late but I cant be any later. I'm ****'d if we decide to trade down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Royal Seahawk

No,im afraid the first pick won't be until nine as far as i'm aware, coverage only starting at half 8.

Is it not 5minutes each pick?(actually its ten in the first round)

Gotta say I agree with Deoin there, Smith just comes across as a winner. His competitiveness and intensity even come through in a short interview. I'm not surprised that along with his pysical ablilty, all around fitness and what he has done that he also impressed coaches with his personality as well.

    many thanks......

Wow I'm shocked by that pick there. Jackson has been shooting up the boards but to go that high is just unbelievable. I didn't rate him as a top 5 pick but for Pioli to pick him this early says a lot.

ye seems a shock, wonder what the seahawks are going to do though.

[edit] wow wasnt expecting that at all

Thats a great pick by the Seahawks. They clearly didn't get caught up in all the type surrounding Sanchez. Curry is going to be class, I was just thinking that if they took Sanchez that the Patriots might look to move up for Curry.

I think it has to be Monroe here although with the way Mangini has been talking about his QBs I wouldn't be surprised if it was Sanchez.

Happy enough with that. Can't wait to see him in action with Tatupu next year.

I presume some of the teams will be looking to trade up to get Sanchez so it could be from now on that the calls start coming.

[edit] speak of the devil, the jets on the clock, as the guys said i think the jets could of waited as he might of fallen a bit lower than 5 even

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,439 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Sanchez goes here now. Wow big move by the Jets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Royal Seahawk

    Sanchez to the Jets!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,993 ✭✭✭Trippie

not so sure about the trade value, 3 players and the 2 picks, good deal for the browns

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,439 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I just can't believe that Monroe is still on the board after five picks. Thats the most shocking thing in the draft so far.

The price for that move was huge for the Jets.

Bengals have to take Monroe, they need players on defence but they also need a tackle and you just can't leave this guy on the board any longer imo.

ye so much so for 3 OT's to be gone in the first 6 picks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Royal Seahawk

I think they'll take Crabtree, they have to replace Houshmanzadeh and ocho cinco might be leaving too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,439 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    :D
I like this from my mock draft.

    17. New York Jets - Jeremy Maclin WR (Missouri) Now there are big rumours about the Jets looking to move up the draft to secure Sanchez, I think if that doesn't happen they have to take a WR here. This is where I know I can't be right because everyone sees Maclin in the top 12 at least but I have him falling all the way to 17.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,439 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

How can you take Andre Smith ahead of Eugene Monroe.

What will the Raiders do now????

I fancied they would take Crabtree but now with Monroe still there I just don't know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Royal Seahawk

Knowing Al Davis it has to be Crabtree.

anyone think that Munroe will slide to 11 to the bills now?

lol at the raiders, if only al davis had no control over drafting they might have a chance in the long run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,433 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

    Boom!

Great trade for us given the price. Number 1 this year, number 2 next year + 5th DB, a below league average DE and a 3rd QB. Washington would have paid the Browns so much more.

We haven't kiboshed ourselves (no picks from next year, no key roster members) and have given ourselves the possibility of franchise stability going forward. Delighted!!

    Classic Al Davis.

    :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,439 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I'm speechless, Davis at it again. I don't believe this, Chucky will be disgusted. Its time for Al to step down, that is a horrendous pick.
