Weather looks pretty decent tomorrow, even the Bastardi is saying so.
Anyone on for a Dundrum luas bridge meetup halfway between too early and too late (plus 7 minutes for faffing)?
edit. changed the title to reflect more realistic departure time

wouldn't mind pushing out to 100+, maybe something like
    DD-Sally-Laragh-(no stopping)-Wicklow-Lakes-(back up sally from kilbride maybe)-Home?
    A bit like this?

    Racing tomorrow, so I'm out.

I'd be on for it, would be keen on long distance but (brief) stop around lunchtime for something to eat.

Well that necessarilly rules out the cafe in laragh. Although there's a petrol station a tiny bit up the gap road, where we could grab a hang sangwich most likely

Maybe we should complain en masse about Glacial Lady.

The sandwich putter-together-er. Seems to resort to first principles for every sandwich.
    "Ham Sandwich please"
"Right, well we'd better go and breed some pigs, then we'll need to grow some wheat to make flour"....

Maybe if we could get the number of the place, we could ring in an order on a monday or tuesday, should be just about ready by the time we roll through on the wicklow 200 next time it goes through laragh :)

I just thought that the staff there are really, really stoned all the time. At least that's how it appears to me.

Is this the one in Laragh where we go to?

If it is Tiki Cafe in Laragh, I have to say that they are a bit on the casual side, but they are nice. Make really good coffee and are easy on the eye.

But they live in the countryside. The pace of life is more relaxed. That is what is attractive to many people who long to live in the country.

BTW, would love to go, but am bringing kids swimming in the morning. Enjoy. I would like to see photos of Ms Pinky in action.

I'm not going to specify which cafe after speculating that they're all stoners;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

Whatever the organic shop on the left as you come into Laragh from glenmacnass.
It's all well and good being relaxed and stuff, but when the first lad to get his sambo is finished eating it before the 3rd person has even ordered, and there's a group of 10, it really slows things down a lot. The coffee is nice though.

Maybe this is why the post coffee spin home is always a bit of a haze.

I'm a maybe for tomorrow. With regard to the food though, I do think on the long spins it makes sense to stop and eat. In defence of Glendalough Fayre (sic) in Laragh, they've got some new people in there now and the speed of service has increased fairly dramatically.

agree the quality of the sandwiches has deteriorated tho ...
I am up for a decent spin.

    What time again...
@ Ken I'll see your 9.37 and raise it 23 to make an even uncomplicated ten...

Hi, i have never done a boards spin before, i do a good bit of cycling, i did 80km last weekend without much bother but id be worried that i might be holding people back if it's my first time?
Also i have a touring bike rather than a racer!

As the Claw says they are faster now. Tiny is struggling with mechanicals this evening so 10 would be better I reckon... personally you know I just love an earlier start but there you go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,400 ✭✭✭Caroline_ie

well we could let the scratch group go off at 10 and follow us. would certainly make things easier for the cafe in laragh - they'd get to go and harvest a second batch of wheat between orders :)

It's relaxed pace, and we wait at the tops of climbs for the slower members, so don't worry about that. We have also got various bikes - carbons, tourers, flat bar'd racers etc - so don't worry about that either.

The coffee is usually quick. They must have daisy out back and a pipe feed from Brazil for the beans.

@Keenan- bear in mind that you can leave at any time to head home, the group generally splits as some have to be home earlier than others.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

So is there a group leaving at 9:37 as well as 10:00? Or has everyone moved to 10am?

Despite my earlier assertion, I'm out. Sticking to a flat northside route - leg issues persist, I need some easy miles today :o

It's lovely alright. Just spent the last hour out on my balcony washing and setting up the bike for today. It was in bits after Thursday night.
