Say City are definately Dodge this weekend, big effort last night and a few hobbling at the end. Think there might be a hang-over from going out. I think Middlesborough & Sunderland will be my double

Stay away from Wolves there is no way they'll be so sensible as to win promotion at home with two games to spare!

    dead certs this weekend are
AS Roma and AC Milan at colossal odds of 3/10 and 2/7 making 4/6 so we need to boost that. Barcelona are 4/9 and need another win while in France PSG only need to turn up to win at 1/4.
    that's a cast-iron 2/1 quadruple which isn't too bad.
if you like singles then Stoke and Sunderland are interesting.

Best prices for the weekend, but just for brave people are
Wolfsburg 10/11 Malaga 10/11 and Inter Milan 15/8
apparently Atalanta are playing a team of cripples too, they are 8/11.
    best of luck everyone !

I don't think this is too attractive a price. I'm no expert but the French League seems very unpredictable and PSG have played in Ukraine yesterday (and were trashed 3-0 as well) so may be very tired. I wouldn't really trust them at such a very short price. Then again if you follow the French league you may know better than me, but 1/4 just seems very short not sure if its worth it.

Bolton (+1) away to Portsmouth is worth a punt at 6/4.

    St Pats -v- Drogheda United

Once against I’m going against Pats. They are missing quite a few players again tonight through injury and suspension. The fans are not too happy with the start by Kenna and his men and I read this morning that Kenna isn’t even living in Ireland at the moment so that is a ridiculous set up they currently have. He flies in for the games so it will be difficult for him to even know his 11 at this stage. Drogs are nothing special either but they may fancy their chances tonight. I’ll be having two sneaky ht/ft bets on tonight. Draw/Drogs @ 13 and Drogs/Drogs @ 12.

    Bray -V- Derry

This is going to be a tight affair and I wouldn’t be surprised with Derry not coming away with all 3 points. In Bray’s 7 league game to date every team has managed to score and that were the first two games that ended 0-0. In Derry’s 7 league game to date there have only been 2 duck eggs also, the first game of the season and the 3-0 thrashing of Pats. Derry have scored in every fixture to date. So with both sides able to score goals as well as concede them I’ll be having a go of both teams to score @ 11/10.

    Sporting Fingal -V- Shels

I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a few goals here tonight. Fingal have great quality up front as do Shels and that should see plenty of chances being created tonight. On Monday Shels easily defeated Dundalk 3-0 but should have been doubled that. I believe that this scoreline was down to the 4-3-3 formation Shels went with on the night. With the possibility of the same formation again tonight I’m opting for over 2.5 goals @ 2.46.

    Backing Draw/Drogs and Drogs/Drogs @ 13.0 and 12.0 respectively (Betfair) 0.25 pts x2.
Bray -V- Derry backing both teams to score @ 11/10 (Bet 365) 1 pt.
    Fingal -V- Shels backing overs @ 2.46 (Betfair) 2pts.

    Gone for an accum. of:

    Sunderland
    Portsmouth
    Real Madrid
    Barcelona
    Rangers

    About 25/1 I think

I'm doing these here singles for the weekend interest.

    Finn Harps 11/4
    UCD/Wexford draw 10/3
    Fingal/Shels draw 23/10
    Fulham 12/5
    Portsmouth 11/10
    Bradford 11/5

And what the hell for the buzz a whole 2 euro on this accumulator at 24/1 with Ladbrokes

    All double chance

    Finn Harps/Draw
    Wexford/Draw
    Shelbourne/Draw
    Fulham/Draw
    Portmouth/Draw
    Bradford/Draw

I've just started this kind of stuff but my GAA one came in last week so had a go at the football this week. All safe enough bets, except one is bound to let me down.

    Limerick
Man Utd (to qualify for next round.)
    Barca
    Real Madrid
    Athletico Madrid
    PSG
    Roma
    AC milan

    only about 10/1.
Well Limerick have got the ball rolling.

    :(

1/3 not the worst but still a loss for the night. Must try harder :D

Was at the Shels game and I must say I was surprised at the lack of Fingal's killer instinct. They could have killed the game off by the hour mark. Instead they score a goal and sit back like Andorra for the rest of the match. Shels had a perfectly good goal disallowed and in the last minute a Shels striker cleared the ball off the Fingal's line with his head :O

Its looking good but now I'm in the the horrible position of having to cheer on United (who are fielding a bunch of youngsters seemingly).

My hapiness is firmly hedged on an Everton win. Worst case scenario is a draw and United to win it on extra-time and penoes. That'd be pretty sick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

Decided to lay a decent chunk of it off on a United victory as with the team they've put out I think they might struggle. Plus I can go back to cheering against them now! (sort of)

I did listen and dropped Villa from my accum!

Madrid and Barca let me down with both only winning 1 nil!

Think Barca had about 3 disallowed goals! One of which should have definitely stood! So you can blame the ref for Barca only getting a 1 nil.

well mike is right a lot of the time

I don't see the point in sticking money on short odds teams. like united to beat everton for instance, anyone with an ounce of sense would have kept away from it.

short odds teams are a bookies paradise bastds

United were 1.84 yesterday morning. If Fergie put out the same team from the Porto game I would have lumped on and they would have won easily. You can make money from odds on shots. You just have to be selective when it comes to placing down your hard earned and spotting the right opportunity.

e.g i lumped on 2 singles this weekend:

Spurs at 5/7 playing against a ****e newcastle side at home where they have not conceded this year. ok it was only 1-0 but the result was never in doubt it should've been 3 or 4.

    Sunderland at 20/21.

At home desperately needing a win against a hull side are the worst form team of the last 3 months or so.

I don't think theres one single way to go about betting (i.e only going for long shots, or only going for short odds). Just got to look at the price and if you think the bookies have got it wrong then go for it. So even though these 2 bets were relatively short, i still felt they were too long. Especially Spurs at home, couldnt believe the price, nor could anyone I told.

And id agree with raheny red - if united had put out a team against Everton then 1.84 was a very good price (this is coming from someone who absolutely despises United). I think peoples mistake was betting on the game before hearing the team news. I layed off a third of my potential winnings from that 25/1 accum. after hearing the teamsheet. But on hindsight i probably shouldnt've included them in there in the first place without knowing the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 576 ✭✭✭Fishyfreak

It's called Gambling for a reason. There are no guarantees, you just learn a lesson and move on.

I lost €10, no big deal, i lost what i could afford to lose. That is the key here.

Agree about the stopped clock being right twice a day.:)

I agree. This is called tissue betting. If you look at all the matches without prices and give your own odds Then when looking at the bookies odds in comparison, you can see if your getting what you think is good value to back a particular result. Quite popular in the gambling world.

Am i going mad or does Arsenal at 9/2 look like value tonight?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I'd say so (that they're value that is) Obviously I'm hoping you loose the bet :)

Okay they are 5/1 on PP you can get

    15/1 on -1
    3.75 draw no bet
    2/1 on +1

Thats astoninshing value for a game like this, I'll only say wait till the teams are announced. Wenger might just be happy enough to see this game out with no injuries.

ther has been stacks of cash for liverpool in the last few days gone from evens to 4/6 in places, expect arsenal to be missing a few and to be a bit jaded after the weekend

Arsenal team is not nearly their strongest even with the injuries. Liverpool have put out best 11 they can pretty much.

    really weird

    Inter
    Ac

    IT’S A 4-4 EPIDEMIC!!!

Posted by Paddy Power at 10:03am April 22nd, 2009

    I can’t adam & eve it….Liverpool’s second 4-4 draw within a week and it’s cost us a fortune!

We go 500/1 about 4-4 while other bookies only go 100/1. I’ve asked our football geniuses about this and they tell me that it’s because statistically it never happens…..HELLO!!!!!!!!!

Last week we were taken to the cleaners for about 225k and it’s more than doubled this time around to 500k - It’s a bloody 4-4 epidemic!

Last week’s result was the worst correct score result in our history so this is twice as bad. The only good thing is that most of the cash is spread around lads who had about 3 quid on.

But if you’re reading this….yes you…you know who you are….you had 25 on at 500/1 last week and 44 at 500/1 this week…yes you with all that money in your account….WELL DONE YOU JAMMY FECKER!!!!!
