In so many places I have read that fruit must be eaten alone or you'll adversely affect your digestion and make the fruit go rotten inside you. Do you think this is true? What if you want to have fruit with eggs for breakfast?

No, the fruit won't go bad inside you. Lucky for us, being omnivores, we are pretty good at eating different types of food without screwing up our digestion.

However, fruit is full of fructose, which is unusual for a sugar in that it has to be digested by the liver. This gives it a low gi, but also means that if you eat fructose and your body is already well stocked with glycogen, your liver has the ability to turn it to fat and store it in your love handles.

That's why they usually recommend you eat fruit on its own, so your glycogen supplies will be lower and you will use it for energy rather than store it.

As the saying goes, no one gets fat eating fruit.

I did. Ok, not fruit only, but add a piece of fruit to each meal and snack and you can easily add 600-700 cals to your daily diet without realising it. Combine banana with peanut butter and you get a huge arse.
