Worried about weight....

    Hey guys...

as the title says, I'm worried about it...

Why?...I've noticed a somewhat increased weight gain over the last 7 months or so. I don't actively excercise and my diet isnt the best (I'm a student NOT living at home) I try to eat healthily, though my finances on a week to week basis isnt alot.

Now, I've a very good head on my shoulders and I know what possibilities are available to me, but in my current situation, alot are not optionable. Its gotten to the point now where I'll avoid social situations and I'm constantly aware of my body... I don't feel nice....you know? I hate how I look and it completely doesnt suit my character. I'm graduating from college in 2 months, My course specialises in design and I don't feel or look like what a designer should look like.

I know that sounds odd, but My body doesnt suit my career. There is alot to be said about a designer who looks healthy, dressed well and is charismatic (I wont go into the psychology of it now, but trust me, theres alot about that alone). None of which I feel I am at the moment.

The reasoning for my body being in this shape goes back about 4 years now, I won't go into but its been steadily getting worse and my weight is at an all time high.

all my time that I have, I'm spending on my college work which is most important right now. I don't have the finances for the gym, nor equipment. Running isnt my thing. What other options do I have? . D.I.Y weights?.

I now have stretch marks under my arms, on my belly and on the inside of my legs. I dont look obese but I feel it. My dress sense masks much of what would be seen as Fat.

I'm just sick of it. I apologise for this semi-rant, but the more I type, the more I'm realising.

a desperate student wanting to improve his life.

    Thanks for reading.

(FYI : I'm in my mid twenties and weight around 17 stone, 5"10)

    Hey.

I can relate. Back in late 2005 as i was finishing my leaving cert i weighed 16stone and was 5 ft 11. Pretty close to what you are currently. I was a big lad and at the time thought i ate normal but i overate like hell looking back now. Pending some unlikely disorder, the fact that you are at 17stone and 5 ft 10 means you eat a lot more than you think or you THINK you are eating healthily. Many people do think they eat healthy when in fact their diet is bad.

I currently wiegh 10 and a half stone and went from not been able to walk a flight of stairs without being breathless to been a certified indoor cycling instructer. I cycle and run and I am lean and fit so if i can do it ypu certainly can

I understand that when you feel overwight you get a tendancy to feel like ****e all the time, you can cut yourself off from friends, never socialise, get depressed and become overly introverted. Iv been there and it can be a vicious cycle becuase it can cuase you to eat more.

First thing first, imo and from my experience stop feeling sorry and depressed. You need to snap out of if now!

Post a typical daily diet. Lots of experts on here who know a hell of a lot more than i do who can critique your diet. Cut out white bread, pasta, rice. Go wholegrain instead. WATCH THE PORTIONS. Cut out all the cereals bar shredded wheat, go for porridge- cheap and takes 2 seconds to prepare. Use low fat instead of full fat milk.

Get protein with each meal. Nuts like almonds - again watch the portions. lean cuts of chicken, turkey, steak. Tuna, fish. Healthy fats like nuts, nut butters.
Plenty of fresh fruit and Veg.

Dont change everything at once, Take small proactive changes. Thats what i did and it stuck long term .for example cut out fizzy drinks first and replaced with water. after a while i then cut out butter and mayonaise. small changes will help long term.

In terms of exercise - walk. its free and cost you nothing. Do it at a brisk pace to ensure you elevate your heart rate some what.

Hope you can make sense of my essay

Oh and remember Gok Wan - he weighed more than you when he was a kid and look at him now. I think that's pretty *****ing motavating.

PM me about anything here. I know exactly how you feel. iv been there and now i can barely remember how i felt back then . Believe me once you make small sustainable changes you will soon forget about how bad it all felt. you will be too concentrated on feeling good about yourself and listening to complements from the people you know.
