Best comedy around IMO. It's incredibly funny and well written.

I'll check it out tomorrow, sounds alright.

Season 2 is probably the best, though it really is hard to choose between the three.

It was a slow burn for me. I remember having to watch about 6eps before I really 'got it' (in terms of the humour) and then after that I just ate up the entire series in a matter of weeks. Very recommended.

Just finished season 3. Brilliant I am going to go back to the first 2.

I wonder if our builders and their families going to provide us with some laughs as they fight to keep their businesses - it is the least they can do.

G.O.B.: The real problem is that she keeps saying that God is going to show me a sign. The... something of my ways. Wisdom?
    Michael: It's probably wisdom.

Honestly one of the best comedies in recent history. Top notch stuff. Best watched in sequence!

Tobias as a 'never nude' - still makes me laugh after all these years!

My favorite ever moment on the show was Tobias saying something along the lines of
"Oh yes Michael, the big marriage expert. Oh no wait, your wife's dead!"
Really wish I could find a clip of it.

    Oh yeah, that was quality.
Tobias: Did you forget I was a professional twice over, an analysist and a therapist. The world's first analrapist.
Lindsay: Yeah, and you were almost arrested after those business cards.

it was such a fantastic show. I only got into it because a friend in work kept harassing me to watch it. Like many, I guess, I watched my first episode on TV mid-season and just didn't think it was funny.

Upon watching the show from the start and getting to that episode again however I found it hilarious because I now understood all the self-referential jokes, which where equally it's genius and downfall.

My favourite episode still was the ratings parody episode in season 3, i.e. S.O.B.s (Save Our Bluths), when they knew they where being cancelled and did a satirical episode highlighting all the cheap tricks shows employ to boost their ratings. The "Put on your 3D glasses now" bits where hilarious :D

I loved the episode where they talked about how their parents used to use a one armed man to teach them a lesson. For example, they'd stop to get some milk, but the stop wasn't planned, and the one arm man would jump in front of the car and scream 'my arm, my arm!' So they'd be scared to death and learn that you have to plan in advance etc.

The one armed man makes an appearance at the end of a pretend drugs bust to teach George Michael a lesson, it was just hilarious and a lot funnier than I'm writing it here!

I love the 'dead pan' narration :

Narrator: Buster was finding himself right at home.
Buster: Oh, my God! I used to have a shirt just like that.
Narrator: It was Buster’s old shirt. Lucille had given it to Lupe.
Buster: And the hand chair! I had one in my room! I wonder where that went.
    Narrator: It went right there.
Buster: [touching his hand chair] I'd never thought I'd miss a hand so much.

and some of my many many highlights include Loose Seal/Lucille, the 'shemale' shirt and Bob Loblaw. Fingers crossed for the movie....

Tobias Funke remains my favourite character in any medium.
Excellent show, although if I had one complaint I would say the early parts of season 3 were not up to the standard of seasons 1 and 2, but still best comedy in US in years[I'm constantly torn between it and Peep Show for best comedy show overall in recent years].

Hope the movie gets off the ground soon, although apperently Michael Cera is still holding out.

    So many hilarious running jokes...

The Hot Cops, Franklin, J. Walter Weatherman....

My favourite quote will always be when Michael and Gob hire the Hot Cops to teach George Michael a lesson.

Gob: "Oh no its the cops........and a construction worker..."

Also the background jokes you really have to pay attention to notice. Such as the blue handprints on the walls and on cups, and the notes stuck to the refridgerator "Running low on Milk"...

Best American sitcom of all time. One of my favourite quotes is in the pilot:

Michael: You are not going to do one of your stupid magic tricks?

GOB: They are called illusions Michael. A trick is something a whore does for money (Turns and notices children).... or candy

Have all 3 seasons on DVD. Love it. Has anyone heard they are bringing out a movie, if so anyone know when?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

no word on when apparently there is a thing about not being able to get one of the cast - george michael i think

but yes an amazing show and i was only introduced to it after it was finished :( never got to see

    thanks ill try that

Yeah i also think the early part of Season 3 is pretty poor in comparison. I still think Gob's election video for George Michael is genius!

    Gotta love Gob's Chicken Dance;

    Buster: Chickens don't clap!

Lindsay: We're not the only ones killing trees, what about beavers? You call yourself an environmentalist, why don't you go out and club some beavers?!
Johnny Bark: You don't really get nature do you?

An absolutely brilliant program. Like a few others, it took me a few shows to get into but once I did I couldn't stop watching. Such a shame it got cancelled, way better then some of the shows on today.

i love the one when all of them are doing it and then they stop and leave the room and gob comes running in with the chicken hat on doing the clap and he looks so incredibly disappointed that everyone had left the room

Except where you can see Tobias looking out of the kitchen doing one of his trademark grins.

one of the best setups ever was in the episode Mr. F

Throughout the whole episode a load of odd stuff is thrown in (the miniature town being built to fool the Japanese investors, the rocket backpack that George Micheal steals, Tobias thinking that being a mole means to actually dress up like a mole. All leading up to this moment of pure TV excellence.

Note: It will only be funny if you have actually watched the episode. The build up to it was just priceless.

+ 1 on that - great episode but it was building up for 2 or 3 eps i thought? - the Mr F bit anyway

    Yeah, I love this show.

I hear there are romours for a film. Well, I read that recently on imdb. Don't know how correct that would be....

I'm laughing out loud reading this thread, thinking of the show. What a class program.

By the way, I watched the new cartoon from Arrested's creator Mitch Hurwitz called Sit Down, Shut Up. It's voiced by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Henry Winkler but I barely laughed. Since it's animation you miss out on Arnett's and Bateman's very funny facial expressions.

Here's a behind the scenes clip between Arnett and Batemen that's funnier than the whole first episode...

I watched 12 episodes of this last night. Every episode seems even better the more you watch it!
I love all the episodes with Maggie Lizer - they were brilliantly written. However, I think my all time favourite episode is "Afternoon Delight" from Series 2. My favourite quote from that episode is when Lucille
crashes into Gob while driving stoned
and says to Michael "Hey Mikey, relax. It's just a giant banana!" :D:D

Lucille and Tobias are probably my two favourite sitcom characters ever.

Love this show. Gave the box set to a friend to check out, he watched two episodes and said it was pretty much the same as Mighty Ducks. Usually he has good taste in TV. I cried.

in some circumstances the bleeping adds to the humour, such as when they say "pussy" and many other circumstances.
    i'd stick with it.

The bleeping is done on purpose. Especially funny when they're talking about Lucille and Buster is saying stuff that gets bleeped, and people's reactions to what he just (supposedly) said.

I think Gob/Michael in the meeting at the start of episode 308 is absolutely hilarious, and I've watched it over and over and still find it hilarious.
