    What??!!
Both of them are from Roscommon. Oliver Goldsmith was from Elphin and Maureen O'Sullivan was from Boyle. So what other counties did you try and take "culchies" from?

Can't leave Declan Nerney out of the Longford list!

Also, Johnny Massacre, legendary street performer (RIP)

There's a statue commemorating Oliver Goldsmith's birthplace just down the road from my home in Longford.

    From wikipedia:
Neither is the location of his birthplace certain. He was born either in the townland of Pallas, near Ballymahon, County Longford, Ireland, where his father was the Anglican curate of the parish of Forgney, or at the residence of his maternal grandparents, at the Smith Hill House in the diocese of Elphin, County Roscommon

    Yeats was born in Dublin.

But we do have Mick Lally.

And Paul King, 1980's popstar and singer of "Spirit in the Sky". Also VH1 Vj.

Also, the term to "lynch" someone (i.e. what the KKK did to blacks until recently) comes from a fella Lynch who hung his son out the window of Lynch's Castle on Shop Street.

Che Guevara was one of the lynches
