Can I just ask, what is the problem with selling tickets for face value?

I'm not sure but I think it interferes with adverts.ie or something like that.

    Q for the mods.
The UCD forum has a sticky that allows for links to adverts.ie for selling on used textbooks. Is it possible to allow something similar for offloading excess tickets for this match at face value or below or is selling tickets a total no no for both sites?

Basically a blanket ban came on on ticket sales due to a few things...one being the issue with a certain promoter but the other being that people just can not behave rationally when there are tickets to a big occassion...and will willingly pay over the odds , gazump, rip people off and scam. It becomes unfeasible to mod properly and leaves alot of people with a bad taste and it is not really in line with the idea of a community.

Fair enough, was just curious rather than questioning the policy.

Can someone pleeeease PM me the link / password for tickets ... I am a Leinster family season ticket holder (Section N, row P, seats 5 to 8!! I know that's not proof, but all I can offer!). I recently changed jobs and the email address I used was my old work one so I didn't get the information.

    Would really appreciate it!

    Thanks,

passsword is unique to each season ticket holder, anyone giving you their password is giving up their tickets.

Is the password by any chance a combination of ticket number and something else or something that I could work out from my ticket number? If so, any chance of a PM explaining how the password works?

I am not a Leinster season ticket holder myself because I can't guarantee I'll make every game. But I travelled over to the London for the weekend, shouted, roared and sang from start to finish (and for a good while in the pub after!) only to find out that the tickets for people like me were sold out before I'd even left the ground yesterday. I'm bloody furious with that.

I'm lucky enough that I know a few season ticket holders so have been able to sort out a ticket today, but you can be sure I wasn't the only one in that position yesterday. People who made the effort to travel across and support Leinster were at an immediate disadvantage when it came to buying the tickets. Even the season ticket holders, many of whom I'm sure have yet to surface (judging by the session last night) and may not find out for a while about the ticket allcation. With a limit of 6 each and only 9,000 available they'll sell out fast enough too. And the ones who'll miss out are most likely the ones who travelled this weekend. It's a sham.

Who made the call regarding when and what time tickets should be sold? I presume it's not ticketmasters call? I really want to make a complaint about the way in which it was handled, but I want to make sure that it's sent to the right place!!!

Ring the Leinster branch about it. The password just looks to have a random element about it, I can't see any pattern you might use to guess.

Tickets can be sold on the soccer forum without too many problems - I would prefer to sell any extra tickets I get to genuine fans there, means I never have to sell to a tout

Completley Agree. I was in London yesterday and managed to check my email last night in the hotel lobby. Rang my sister (a little drunk at 1am, she wasn't happy) back home in Dublin to log on and buy them because I was flying home at 10am this morning!

So I got tickets this morning but still very tempted to email Mick Dawson and co to convey the opinion that a lot of hardcore fans could have been done over. If they had waited 24 hours it would have made such a difference....

Do email him, in fact you should call them tomorrow to give out. its a disgrace to travelling fans to have the tickets being sold without any consideration for them. Although the real blame i suspect lies with the ERC

am i wrong to assume that leinster seasons ticket holders were not guaranteed tickets fr the semi?
in which case you did not need to rush to buy tickets as only leinster tickets went on sale this morning and passwords were required

also, in the case of munster anyway, it is ticketmaster is hadleing the sale of tickets and so the branch does not have control of the sale of tickets, only the allocation of tickets to groups as in clubs, season ticket holders etc etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,407 ✭✭✭✭justsomebloke

I also think it was a disgrace as 2 of my friends where over at the match and bar the fact I rang them to tell them the tickets were going on sale and to be at an internet cafe they wouldn't of known. It really is a disgrace that the fans who actually go and support away from home are so quickly forgotten about.

Also the fact that they did it on a bank holiday when so many people wouldn't have had access to their email to know about the ticket sale.

So well done leinster a job well and trully badly handled

I don't think this is fair to say. There are "Hardcore Fans" who didn't manage to get tickets to the quarter final matches. I'm a hardcore fan who went to the Magners league matches last November in the pouring rain and sat in half empty stands. That still doesn't guarantee me a ticket to any of the "bigger" matches.

I'm not saying the ticket sale was handled correctly, in fact my opinion is just the opposite, but I don't think that it's fair to say that just because a fan wasn't at the quarter final match that they're not "hardcore".

Fair enough! It's not quite how you came across though! Being there for the sale wouldn't have guaranteed you a ticket anyway, I was online and ordered my tickets, and they were confirmed only for the order to be cancelled straight away. It wasn't a normal sale, I spoke to a ticketmaster agent who told me that some orders were taking priority for some reason???!!! You know when you order tickets from ticketmaster usually, your seats are confirmed and you get 2 minutes to pay, well this wasn't the case yesterday, first to pay got the tickets and their credit card system was jammed and it was pot luck who got the tickets in the end. You had a better chance over the phone but getting through was another matter.

Anyway, back to the point, who assumed I was a Leinster Fan???? I didn't want to be in London yesterday, Thomond Park was the place to be... Any other Munster Fans looking for tickets? If I can find my account password I might be able to get some tomorrow, I think season ticket holders get an option to buy tomorrow - YIPPEE!!!!

    STAND UP AND FIGHT!!!!

Let the banter begin. I've already had my hands on the Heineken Cup twice, that's twice more that Dricco, should be able to say 3 times more soon!!!! :)

If Leinster are giving each season ticket holder the option to buy 6 tickets then they could conceivably sell their allocation with only half the season ticket holders looked after. There are 10,000 STHs, a lot of whom were in London yesterday so are only possibly only now getting to see the e-mail about getting tickets. I don't understand why they are letting each person take so many, it would make more sense to give each person the option of 3/4 and then if there are tickets left over in a week or something let people buy more.

Either way you have to admit it's bloody unfair to be selling tickets to the semi the minute one of the quarters is over. It puts those at that game at a serious disadvantage. Even the season ticket holders aren't guaranteed a ticket, and though they went on sale Monday morning a lot of fans that travelled may not have known that as a good few of us went straight to the pub after for the post-match pints and didn't finish until late.I'm sure a good few only found out well after the tickets went up on Monday, which isn't on.

As for who will win, I'd love it to be Leinster. It would be a shame for the likes of O'Driscoll not to get his hands on the trophy before retiring. But the way Munster played against the Ospreys I don't see anyone beating them. They were outstanding. Either way we have an Irish team in the final, and coupled with the Grand Slam it's great news for rugby in this country. :D

A fair few people at Leinster games in Dublin are rugby fans from Munster getting their rugby fix. On the day of the semi they'll all be wearing red I'm sure, I've no doubt that Munster will outnumber Leinster supporters and it may look like it is all red on TV as the blue won't stand out as much. Also even at a Leinster home game it is never all blue, imo at most Leinster games only about half the fans wear the jersey. I'd say the numbers will be much closer than in 2006, but i might not appear like that on TV.

Just reading on the Leinsterfans board that any tickets purchased using the same password twice (i.e. getting more than your allocation of 6) will have all but the first transaction cancelled.

can't see it happening or it will be a fiasco on the day with thousands on fans turning up to the ground with what should be legitamate tickets being refused entry and while they are complaining they will be blocking the entrances for everyone else and thus causing probably a large number of public disturbances outside as people try and get in for the start of the match

My guess, ticket master dont care what your situation is. If you went over limits without permission from them then on your own head be it

Any tickets over the limit will not be sent out and ticketfast tickets will be blocked as the system works on barcodes.

Phew. Went for the ticketfast option!

Just read the LF's thread. Seems ominous enough that extra tickets will be cancelled.
I guess it's only fair as most of the die hards were only on their way back from the Quins game.

Looks like they will be sending out tickets now if you originally chose Ticketfast.
As a result of human error customers who were issued passwords to purchase their Heineken Cup tickets on Tuesday were able to use their password more than once...PLEASE READ ON...
This error has been corrected and these passwords can now only be used a single time.
All customers who were entitled to purchase tickets for the Heineken Cup semi-final in Croke Park were issued with clear guidelines as to their ticket entitlement.

At Ticketmaster we run post sales checks on all purchases and where any customer has been found to have purchased more than their allocation, any additional tickets will be cancelled and blocked from entry.

These tickets will be put back on-sale to ensure that other customers receive their fair entitlement."

*These remaining tickets will be put back on sale online from 12 Midday on Wednesday for Leinster Season Ticket holders who were not able to access tickets on Tuesday.

**Print-at-home tickets will not be accepted on the day of the game. Please ensure that you have an original match ticket as this will only gain you entry into Croke Park.

Between myself and My Brother we now have 22 Tickets could have 26 via supports club but will be leaving them for Other Supporters From the Munsters Supporters Club, Tickets are out there just need to be clever, I do think its VERY unfair on Leinster Fans, most Munster Fans incl myself had Enough time to Drive Home after the Match in order to even atempt to buy them off ticket master.
