not that I'm looking to be a lumber-jack or anything...

But what are the main muscle groups used in the wood-cutter
(holdin a dumbell with both hand, dumbell verticle, and raising it from one hip to the oppsite shoulder in an arked motion)...

Is it just the lats primary and maybe a bit of shoulders...

This is a great compound move. If you move the dumbbell from over your right shoulder to beside your left shin, you use almost every muscle in your body. In fact, if you had time for only one exercise, this is the one I'd pick.

It is also a wonderful functional exercise, the only one that prepares your body for lifting a baby in a car seat out of the car without twisting your back.
