Right shoulder wider/loser than the left

Bit of a weird one here

My right shoulder is wider and more relaxed/flexible than my left. My right collar bone is longer too

    img0301c.jpg

Im at a computer desk for most of the day [in work and at home]

I always feel tension on the left side of my neck where it meets the shoulder

And I usually lean on my left hand, which would be an inward hold

Is it just a tension thing, or from bein a righty?

    Is this normal?

Any advice on what I can do?

I would advise seeing a doctor if it's problematic. Medical advice that is given over the internet can be very unreliable or misleading.

A doctor will be able to physically examine you in person and feel your shoulder etc. - if there is anything wrong, he will tell you. If not, you'll have the piece of mind that you're ok.

Most people exhibit what you have to some degree and it is really important to manage it. Imbalances are responsible for a lot of injuries and pain/discomfort so it is really important to address them.

Try a physio. Most likely an imbalance. Do you do weights? Could be a need for more pulling movements if you do a lot of pressing work (bench press, push-ups, etc).

Yeah I do weights, but wudda been more pulling movements like Chins and shrugs

I only noticed it today but lookin at old photos its been like that a few years, and Ive always noticed my collar bone poppin out more

Its only recently full of tension as I work in an office now and tend to lean on my left side

Also my neck seems to be sore sleepin on my side in bed

I don't have much expierence of this, so it's just a thought out loud, but maybe it's simply that you have more tension in one shoulder than another. Some sort of massage or shoulder rub might sort it out (although I'm not usually a believer in massages having never got one myself)

Failing that definitely go to your physio.
