    Hey!
I've had crohn's disease for over 3 years now and I have finally got the disease completely under control. So now that the health is better and I have got more energy I really need to start exercising! I need something gentle, however, because after spending a lot of time in hospital beds my muscles have virtually wasted away! Has anyone got any tips? (please don't suggest brisk walks- I found them so boring) My legs are in particularly bad shape. I constantly get shin splints and cramps in my hamstring and calve after the slighest of strain. Also I get this really strange cramp in my knee- my dad thinks it's tendonitis.
    Thanks
    Sal

See your doctor about your legs ( more than likely nothing but shin splints can end you up on crutches if you ignore them), then ask him to write you a clearance to exercise letter , head to your local gym and ask an instructor to do you up a program

Sort the knee out. Cycling may be a possibility as it is non-impact but can put pressure on your knees. Would you consider weight lifting? There would be no need to go all out initially but it is great for fat burning, self esteem and when you start to progress is a hell of a lot more interesting than walking!

See your doctor, there are new strict rules on boards about giving out any sort of medical advice.
