Stealing/ driving into a parking space???

Right, I just had a major run in with a Polish delivery driver. Basically I spotted a parking space on the street & parked in it.
All of a shot this green van reverses so fast I thought he was going to take the arse off my car. Anyway he started roaring that it was his spot & he had been waiting over half an hour for it. Now if he's a delivery driver then I presume he can use a loading bay? But that was across the street & seeing as it was raining I'd say he didn't want to ruin his blade 1 haircut.
I pointed out that I didn't see his name on it, not trying to be smart, & that if I had known he was waiting on it I would have stayed going.
So who was right & who was wrong or are all parking spaces fair game for whoever is the fastest?
In the end I just walked away because the man was gone demented from it & at that stage I wouldn't have moved the car out of principal because of the language he roared at me. I'm no prude but Mr Polski was lucky I was in relatively good humour today or he would have been limping back to his green van.

Yes - Typo sorry. Fixed now
there is nothing worse than someone who steals a parking space.

How is it stealing when the other person does not make it obvious that they are taking it?

Why was it relevant that the delivery driver was Polish?

In other news, 2 people have words over a parking space. Pictures at 11.

aslong as you indicated into it its yours! did you do that op?
it happened me a while ago, some aul biddy was pulled in along a row of cars, so i went round her, and just as i did a car reversed out leaving a space for me! i duly indicated and as i was turning in she nosed her car in front of mine. but as i seen it first it was mine so i kept easing forward. if she kept goin she was gonna have a nice dunge in her car (and it would be all her fault:D) she backed down then and went off and found another space!
she then attacked me as i was getting a parking ticket, and just beause i had a D reg vehicle she said "typical dub, cheeky fekers" (this being in sligo and i definately dont have a dub accent) i laughed in her face and told her **** off!

Right well it wasn't meant to sound like a rant against Polish people but I'm going to be honest because in my own head I was thinking ' Would this foreign c**t ever f**k off & annoy someone else'.
He looked like he was about to hit me & when I walked away the fool followed up the street a bit. What was I meant to think?

Yeah used indicator & was waiting in traffic for a good five minutes before I could get into the spot so it was on all the time.
Like he was parked about 20-25 metres away from it with no indicator on. As far as I knew he was double parked. He had plenty of time to park into it before I got near enough.
It was a van not an artic he was looking to park.

Why say he was Polish so? I mean, a d!ck's a d!ck, whatever the nationality!

What does it matter what nationality he is?

Because if he spoke a bit of English I could have explained it to him properly & offered to move that's why it mattered.
He had very broken English & as I was trying to apologise & make an attempt to get him his parking space back he had a hissy fit & had no interest in what I had to say.
The situation probably wouldn't have been so embarrassing if he shut up & let me move out of the space but he had parked directly behind me.

It seems to be a common reaction to this thread ' why does it matter that he's Polish?'.

Anyone think that I was more frustrated about not being able to communicate with him rather than his nationality?

Hmm.... If it was me i would have crippled you for life for three things.

    #1 bad grammar

    #2 ageism

    #3 stealing anothers parking space.

Just pray you don't hove across the Flutt's bows in a similar situation.

I didn't say he stole the spot - just saying I hate spot robbers :D

Whoever indicates appropriately is the winner. But then I do believe than there are certain cars which offer indicators as an optional extra!

You should have told him that there are plenty of spaces to park beside the Dell factory in Lodz. Then you should have told him to fcuk right off.

Right this is about to turn into something it's not.
I was merely asking people was I in the wrong or was he just being an asshole.
The majority of replies I got were from people up on a moral high horse because I mentioned the fact he is Polish.
It was a question about a parking space & driving etiquette, not about racisim.

    #3 stealing anothers parking space.
it wasnt theirs in the first place.
one way street, old woman parked on left of street so cars can go past her on right!
I overtake her and 20 yards in front of me a car is reversing out from the right hand side of the street. as the car is near the left hand side of the street i keep to the right and indicate in. as im turning in the aul wan agressivly drives up to my right hand side where there was no possibility for her to turn in!
I seen it first, i indicated - so it was mine to use!!!!!!!!
Ask any one and they will say as long as you indicate the space is yours!

Buddy, and no offence meant , anyone who pulled that stunt on me would be walking on crutches for at least a month.

    Hove: nautical term

    4. past tense and past participle hove Nautical
    a. To move in a certain direction or to a specified position: The frigate hove alongside.
    b. To pull at or haul a rope or cable: The brig is heaving around on the anchor.
    c. To push at a capstan bar or lever.

Just hope you never meet me buddy.

i do it in college from time to time. its not really stealing though, i wouldnt take one if someone was waiting with the indicator on but if i see someone heading for a space il put the foot down and get there first!
also if they have the indicator on but there facing the wrong way on a oneway system il head up the right way and nip in ahead of them...fair game in my opinion.

Had to venture out into the big bad world & guess what? My parking space got robbed!!!!
As I was reversing into it a nippy toyota starlet came within a whisper of hitting me so they could steal my space.

    Love doing this, its hilarious!

People get so riled up. Did at a shopping centre one day, there was this couple and they just stopped in the middle of road, no indication or reverse lights on, so i zoomed in and took the spot. they stayed there looking at me, few onlookers thought it was hilarious too.

    Too slow imho!

So how did he know it would eventually become a parking space? Do Poles have crystal balls?

*Er no...Not quite what I meant!*

Anyway. Irish parking spaces for Irish people I say;)

Its very important to establish the nationality of the van driver, being Polish he probably had a swan or two in the back - pecking the arse off the little red head teen he stole from her Irish BF.

    These things are very important.

To park your car in London's Soho costs 20p for three minutes, which is £4 per hour and at this stage is more than the minimum wage. There are people working in McDonalds in Soho who can look out the window and see parking meters earning more than they are
