We have two Irish lifters in the competition: Cathal Byrd in the 77kg class and Kevin D'Arcy in the 85kg.

Cathal was up yesterday and got a 105kg snatch and 140kg Clean and Jerk. Not sure when Kevin is lifting.

Thats great lifting from Cathal. lol, i can remember when he was cleaning 70kg. He's doubled his lifts in about 4 years. Mine are still the same :(

That's music to my ears, that's about on a par with where I am now. So it'll only take me two years to get a 140kg c&j? SWEET!!! :D

Cathal came 13th overall in his group so great result.

Cathal is a beast, but sure we can all strive to emulate his good example.

Kevin Darcy is lifting tomorrow in the 94s AFAIK, he's in the B group so unfortunately probably won't be on the telly :(

The men's 85 are on tonight at 6pm on Eurosport, there'll be a recap beforehand at 5:30, probably of the ladies 69s which are just over.

Tomorrow ought to be ladies under 75kg at 3pm, and men's 94s at 6.
Saturday ladies over 75s seem to be at 11am and men's 105s at 2pm.
    Sunday men's superheavies, over 105s at 11am.

Has Cathal Byrd moved up a couple of weight classes, I thought he was 69kg or something like that?

Just one weight class, from 69s to 77s. He should ultimately be a better 77 than 69 long term due to his height, he's tall for a 69.

He seems to have gone from 69 to 73.5ish in two weeks, that's some bulking speed :)

(I kind of hate him, I am having to abstain entirely from hot cross buns and easter eggs to stay <63 for the moment. Heartbreaking stuff at this time of year.)

lol i know what you mean.
A sounder skin you'll not meet though. Modest and hard working. He'd have been world class at whatever he took up. Hope he doesnt mind me saying it lol...

In terms of eating. Hows about storing up your sweeties for after training. Maybe everyone knows this but its only after dawning on me that you can prob eat anything in the half hour after a hard session. Its great lol :)

And guess what? We just got a booklet of Eddie Rockets Empty your Pockets vouchers in the letter box. BOGOF on EVERYTHING!! Thats my sweeties sorted for PWO tomorrow. Nice ;)

Toasted hotcross bun with butter :pac: , they're actually killing me at this stage, I could quite happily go through a full pack of six in a day.
