Obesity and Diabetes

    Hi all,

Im wondering are there any specific readings someone could point me too that prescribes an effective weight managment strategy for an obese diabetic.

I understand the basics of managing exercise with diabetes, and similarly I understand the basics of managing exerceise with obesity but when a person is an obese diabetic I would like to read on about added health concerns and safety issues.

Anyone shed any light on this for me?

I guess what Im asking is, when dealing with an obese diabetic should we prescribe exercise like we would for a normal obese person (diet and moderate exerecise) and would we also deal with it like a normal diabetic (SMBG, recording of BG finding patterns post and pre exercise to deal with deficient response to exercise and adjusting carb intake and insulin dosages accordingly) OR are there added concerns/strategies/methods to dealing with a person with both afflictions.

Hi CoachBoone, funnily enough this is something that I was speaking about with other Moderators in the last couple of days.

Given that Diabetes is a very serious condition we cannot present any information regarding its management/ treatment/ facilitation here on boards. Your best bet would be to get advise from a medical professional. Really sorry to have to close this but it's boards.ie policy.
