Are you all nearly finished yours then? Or are some of you already lucky enough to have finished it? :D

I just need to finish a few things off on mine (I'm making a stool) and I have to add a few things into my folder...

finished mine now here are some pics:). its a stool/coffee table (secondary function). there are handles under those drop leaves which pull out and support them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Sighface

hey can anyone give me the exact writing from the brief about the stool?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Finished my tech project last friday, portfolio's done all clad with CAD drawings and stuff.

Project itself has a few rough edges and the interior is disgusting looking but the outside plastic is smooth, shiny and full of vinyl stickering.

I did the car logo that supposed to light up at night and have a motorised mechanism. The LDR burned out or something after I sealed the case.

does anyone have the sheet that has the design briefs for woodwork i need the one for the stool

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 268 ✭✭Frank3142

A stool as an item of furniture has many uses.

Design and make a sturdy and elegant stool for use in the home. The stool should be designed to have a secondary function specific to the area in which it is to be used. You should demonstrate how you considered your carbon footprint in the design, selection of materials and in the processes used in the manufacture of the stool.

Eh, when I did mine, it was just taking pictures of the progress of your project, from start to finish, and adding comments in beside them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 329 ✭✭mista_2k10

Yeah, I think its in the evaluation. Just say something like:

Here's my finished piece before I engraved it. I chose to manufacture it from Oak due to it's durability, and because it is aesthetically pleasing.

You analyse your project once you are finished it. You say what you thought worked well for it but you can/should also say what you would change about it if you were to make it again. Such as, I would use screws to fix it the next time as the dovetail joints were slow to do and do not look well now.

Basically you are saying what you would change about it and also what you are happy about. You could also mention one ir two things that you have learned yourself. Such as "I am now able to use the bandsaw confidently having used it to cut the finger joints for my project".

Hope this is of some help to you

Im doing the first choice, of which you have to make a freestanding artefact to hold a small number of books and musical item/items, and it must incorporate a design relating to what you wish to hold in it. I'll post up the brief later so you can see it for yourself.
