Anabolic Diets

    Dose anyone know much about these?

    Tried google but im only gettin the bare minimum

    Basically ye eat loads of fats and protein, minimum carbs

    then high carbs 2 days a week

    Its all about the effects of healthy fats on hormones AFAIK

    But they all seem to say its a bit controversial / dodgy

    Any advice??

    It works alright, google the metabolic diet is its more recent name. I was on it for ages but made a load of adjustments as its a bit behind more modern thinking. The basics of it are eat 1gm per lb of bw in protein, the rest of your cals in fat and less then 20gms of carbs then at the weekend go mad on the carbs.

    Did u find your energy level were any different with so little carbs, even though the cals were still high?

    No difference I found once you are adjusted its more level as there's less up and down from having carbs in and out of the system.

    Most people who have energy level problems generally don't have their fats high enough.

    It sounds dubious. A lot of them diets are a gimmick. Juts eat healthy (plenty of protein) and knock back litres of water a day and avoid crap food and drink. Train hard Eat Smart and Rest well

    There was a lot heres the main ones on how I changed the anabolic diet

    I didn't consume as much red meats as suggested and stuck to lean meats and made up the fats with healthy sources

    I had green veg with every meal, due to one the carb content being very low and the fibre content being high as well as when eating them with fats so the glycemic load was negligible

    Post work out I consumed a mix of whey protein isolate 25gms, glutamine and leucine, the amount of glutamine depended on the volume of the workout

    The carb up on the anabolic diet is too long and too regular. One it will have you roller coasting around and two if you aren't fully glycogen depleted then you're not going to super compensate. I'd limit the carb up to three meals on a sunday or saturday and thats only for lean people people holding more fat only get one meal every two weeks.

    That was the main changes
