Villareal are without Cazorla who is out for the rest of the season after fracturing his fibula, they do however have Senna back from injury.

Arsenal have Diaby, RVP, Eduardo all out, with Nasri possibly back after having the flu and Arshavin cup tied.
    Fabregas and Ade should start.

    Most likely:

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Toure
    Gallas
    Clichy

    Eboue
    Denilson
    Fabregas
    Nasri

    Adebayor
    Bendtner

Subs: Fabianski, Silvestre, Djourou, Walcott, Vela, Song, Ramsey.

Although if Bendtner's knee is still at him we might go 4-5-1 with Song moving up from the bench.

This away leg is going to be fairly cagey and I think I'd actually prefer a 4-5-1.

A score draw would be a very good result for the gunners.

I think Wenger likes 4-5-1 in European away games and if Walcott is fit I think we might see something like this:

    Almunia
    --Sagna
    Toure
    Gallas
    Clichy--
    --Walcott----Song
    Denilson----Nasri--
    Fabregas

    Adebayor

It looked to me like Fabregas played that kind of advanced role against City and it worked well

Senna's a shadow of his form last year, and without Cazorla Villareal are very much 2nd favourites considering arsenals resurgence and also they got trolleyed 3-0 saturday. If the game was played 2 weeks ago I'd say it'd be even enough, now I reckon Arsenal will go through comfortably enough.

    Hope you're right!

The Arsenal team will be as Evil Clown predicted unless there are fresh injury concerns... Nasri might not be 100%.

wenger won't play with two up front away imo.

    arsenal 2-0 i reckon.

I think that this will be a tough match for the Arsenal. IMO, Villarreal will win this leg 2-1

Id say it will be 0-0. Not the best result for Arsenal.

As long as Arsenal play well, they should win this match.

Like Evil Clown, I'd say it'll be the same team as Saturday but with Nasri in for Arshavin (though I'm not sure Fabregas will be always ahead of Walcott/Nasri). It protects Fabregas a bit while he finds full match fitness to play his roving game and with three in CM, Walcott can concentrate on attack.

(Delighted he's fit - he's become one of the main men again instantly since he's come back.)

I have a good feeling about this game today, I really think we can win and if we can do so without conceding, it will be a great result.

Id say Wemger will go with 4-5-1 with Ade up top and Fab in the hole.

Agreed, it won't happen though, Villareal are going through a horrible patch, and Arsenal are going through arguably their strongest period this season, getting all their key players back too. So it's highly unlikely, but just wait for the SKY pundits to rubbish the Spanish league and make sweet tender love the EPL when Arsenal go through. Llorente? Who the fcuk is Llorente....

    True.
Look on the bright side, I have to watch the game on Setanta after my dodgy box died.

Craig Burley + Pat Dolan = Murderous Tendencies

Villarreal (4-4-2): Diego Lopez; Angel, Godin, Gonzalo, Capdevila; Cani, Senna, Eguren, Ibagaza; Llorente, Rossi.

Arsenal (4-5-1): Almunia; Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy; Walcott, Denilson, Fabregas, Song, Nasri; Adebayor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Nice, great to see Villareal willing to play both Rossi and Llorente, maybe they can win this game. If Cani, Ibagaza, Rossi and Llorente show up they'll have a shot. I still reckon Arsenal will go through over the two legs though.

Delighted Walcott gets the nod ahead of Eboue

Like the look of both line outs. hopefully we're in for a great game of attacking football.

    Mr. Song..........fantastic strike.

    Yeah dinger of a goal.
Song was coming across to be fair to him, there was no-one coming out to narrow his angle though

    Haha

    Senna: WTF?!

    Adebayor: SUPRISE BUTTSEKZ!

Have to say Villareal are playing very well, they've had less possession since the goal but when they have it they look more like making something happen.

    Almunia off injured for Fabianski

    Bollox

Couple of nice saves there though. Prefer to have Almunia though.

Second one was a good reaction stop.
He wouldn't have had to make it though if he had have held the first one.

Jayzus now Gallas off injured. Looks serious as well.
We'll be lucky to get out of here at 1-0.

Crap, looks bad for gallas, wenger will only have one attacking substitution, not good.

    yea djourou just on

Not good. Two relatively inexperienced players at the back.

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,529 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

I think djourou is solid enough, makings of a great player imo, but even though silvestre aint world class his experience might have been a better option.

    Ridiculous yellw card there.....

I'd sooner put Gibbs on before Silvestre.

Cheeky free from Cesc there. Though if the ref told him to wait it was a needless yellow.
