    Nick Watney

He was 11th last year in his first Masters after an opening 75. He is in good form this year. I'm not convinced Tiger Woods is at his best yet. I've backed Nick Watney on Betfair at 75, a good price in a small field.

My money is going on Harrington.

    got a each-way (top 5) on mcilroy @ 40/1 a couple of months back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 643 ✭✭✭kagni

I've just put a few quid on Stuart Appleby to be the next "Maiden Major Winner".
Paddy Power are offering 80/1 on the above bet, but only 66/1 for Appleby to win the Masters!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,655 ✭✭✭kingshankly

couldnt have harrington (honestly think he has no chance) how is a 16/1 chance is beyond belief.
woods is a ridiculous price (the last day apart he didnt play extraordinary last week).7/4 is crazy.
will probably back ogilvy and stricker will wait till thursday before i decide

Yea Watney is good value at 75 I got him at 82. There are a few others worth a punt aswell at odds of over 100/1 like Kenny Perry,K.J. Choi and Andreas Romero to name but a few.

Fantastic value to be had by PP as always. Appleby is 111/1 on betdaq atm I got him at 142 a week ago.

antony kim for me is in good form, he's got at least one major in him.
-4 in the shell at the minute, his form is good

Well, he just shot a 67 (5 under par) in the Shell and is just 3 off the lead going into r3. A swallow doesn't make a summer, but Harrington is doing exactly what he does before majors... playing very scrappy golf.

I think 16-1 is great value for a guy who's won the last two majors and knows Augusta very well.

just had a look at pp harrington is 14/1 this is no value graeme,in fact there is very little value to be had i made a tissue myself and im shocked to see some of the prices bookies are running at crazy precentages.
golden rule in golf betting is to wait till the first round is over imo ,price may be reduced but your in with a chance, there is guranteed to be a few fancied golfers with no chance after round one

I think that a number of the other Europeans ( Karlsson, Stenson etc)
will feel that if Paidraig can notch up 2 majors in a season that they should be confident enough to win one and I think another European will win a least one this year. Looking for value in terms of a bet you can get either of these at 50-1 for the Masters. I also have a sneaky feeling that Westwood might do something this year. He sounds like good each way value at 55-1.

    Woody to win.

    Rors for top Irishman.

    rose 66/1 e/w

McIlroy at 30/1 is a ridiculous price by PP....he's the 7th ranked player in their list and its his first time to play the place. If they pushed him out to 40 they'd get a lot of support for him but not at his current price.

There are some good value e/w bets a little further out (PP are paying on 6 places). Furyk at 60/1, Allenby & McDowell at 125, and Baddley at 150.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,476 ✭✭✭ShriekingSheet

    Watney e/w for me.

Unlike some above I think Woods will do it. If PH has a decent R1 I think I'll take a look.

Slightly off topic (but not worth a new topic)... what channels are covering the Masters live? I assume Setanta Golf but have the terestrial stations got it too or what's the story?

tiger -v- big phil showdown on sunday
paddy will be on a transatlantic flight to shannon by then
reckon big phil will take it - the peak in his otherwise disappointing career

Conno, you do talk some sh1t

    Geoff Ogilvy

    4 e/w bets on

    Nick Watney 55/1
    Soren Kjeldsen 380/1
    Matthew Goggin
    DJ Trahan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,461 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

    Ogilvy

think he got the game to win at the Masters

DJ Trahan and Romero might be good outside bets

conno, please try and engage brain before posting here again.

I'm fairly tolerant as a rule but when you persist with talking utter sh1te you put my patience to the test. As I've said many times before, I don't mind people having an opinion that's wildly at odds with what others think but one thing you can't argue against is results.
Mickelson has probably 40 wins on the US tour, won a US Amateur and has 3 majors (2 green jackets and a PGA). He is the #2 player in the world right now.

Any more mindless drivel from you any you will be taking an extended break from here.

you are clearly entitled to your opinion licksy

i stand over my comment though that big phil has been a disappointment overall
he is a supremely talented golfer in my opinion
however he lacks the work ethic and killer instinct of tiger
for that he will always be second best
i belive he should have at least taken full advantage of tigers absence and secured the world no 1 slot, albeit only for a few months

both him and sergio frustrate me as they should be winning a few majors between them every year given their talent

Lads, not one mention yet for Zach Johnson who's been pretty handy this year and has done rather well at Augusta before as I recall.

I wouldn't dismiss Goosen either. And a sentimental punt on Greg Norman.

Conno16, you do get a kicking on here don't you!
So here's my support - you're dead right about Phil. He's too laid back (which I admire) to dominate like Tiger has done. From winning one week to topping a drive the next is inexcusable for a professional golfer. Perhaps that's why he is such a joy to watch. You just never know. Sergio too.

If I had 100 quid handy, I'd put 40 e/w on phil and 10 e/w on Johnson. And the other 95 on Tiger, with the remainder on Stricker, not to mention a punt on Rory, Ernie and Goose.

    stricker represents some value
j m singh is very consistent and could give you a run at a big price.

conno your attitude seems very confrontational might need to be toned down a bit

Im a big Phil fan and I think he could and should have done and won more.. He was the best putter 3/4 years ago, but since 2006 US Open in winged foot when he took 6 on the final hole he hasn't won or come close to winning a major.. In saying all that, his win in Doral was the best I've seen play in 3 years.. so I've backed him again for Augusta..

My betting plan for the majors this year will be phil (ex open) & tiger on the nose..

    bets - Tiger €50w @ 3.8 , Phil €40 @ 9.2 on betfair..
small e/w on goosen & harri..

    Can't wait for it!!

    is woods 11/4 on betfair:eek:

3.8 is 2.8/1 - so 11/4 is same price as you loose 5 cent in a euro on your winnings, 11/4 is massive value!

hes a best price 5/2 now on betfair most shops only going 7/4 but you might see a few specials in the next day or two cant understand bookies not willing to take tiger on he is no way a 7/4 shot i honestly think he is a 9/2 shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 208 ✭✭Sammo13

Tiger was 2nd last 2 years.. I can't see him not been in the shake up, 11/4 for me is value, 9/2 would be serious value.. Also like e/w Harri 18/1, so 4.5/1 for top 5 & Goosen 28/1 ew 7/1 the place..

Just hoping we get a really good last 9 holes, last year was pretty boring..

Planning a launch - will post the details on here as soon as I have a date.

Hey thegen, ease up, whilst you may not agree with Conno and his comments, and I, like you dont, I think your out of line. It would simply be easier to not reply to his comments even when its hard to bite your lip. Its my opinion he posts to get a reaction and your playing right into his hands and there is no need to react. My 2cents

Unfortunately reating like that is just gonna end up with you 'disappearing' from the forum...

Anyway, anyone know when the teetimes are announced for day one?

    Point taken.

Sorry if I caused any offence out there.

But the missus is asking why I keep getting into fights (all these thick lips I have been getting from biting them);)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

It boils down to Woods v the rest.

You either think Woods will win or else it's almost a random choice of who will win.

Will Woods be at his best yet....probably not but he'll still be up there.

    Of the others....Rose or Poulter.

Hopefully Rory has a great tournament.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Famous45

I've just added Poulter to my betting slip at 100's. Very interesting card last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭Chopper888

I think Ian Poulter has a good chance at the Masters. If he can produce his form from the Ryder Cup and the World Matchplay this year , he will be a good each way bet at 100/1.
