...to those lectures I never attended, those labs I had no idea were even on, those people whose names I really should have remembered by now and so on and so forth into oblivion.

I dropped out today, well officially anyway. I live here now so I'll still be your local stumbling fool to laugh/cry/get pissed off at for the coming months/year.

Best decision you`ll ever make tbh,

I dropped out of Maynooth last year, never looked back. Like something out of Midle earth or something it was.

But then again, Your still living there :D

Best of luck with that

I'm not on the dole, I work, a lot.

Fair play! I dropped out last year and found it really difficult to actually make the decision! Granted I've gone back again this year!

If it's what you want and if it's what you feel is the best thing to do for you then it's the right decision, no one can argue that!

Anyway, Good luck with your job! All the best!

And you look like you work damn hard joe!

What's up with the attitude man? Being in college doesn't suit everyone.

I did computer applications in DCU (ask winters, jim and Ro:maaan!) and hated it. It was a great course and wasn't for me.

Now I do music. It's a bit better, but I'm still glad I changed courses.

Another ghost to aimlessly wander the streets of Maynooth.

    Get out man!

    It'll ruin your life.

I know more people who get stuck in that place and spend years of frustration trying to get out of it.

I know a guy who just got out of it this year and he's 33 I think.

    Get OUT!

There's a whole world out there, there's a whole Ireland for god's sake!

I agree. Hanging about Maynooth when you're not part of the college will just lead to bitterness and resentment of those who are. Get out while you can!

Aye. It's more a little test to see how long before it gets snipped. I put a max of 3 days on it, and we're late into day 2!

When I made the post, my sig was:

    Me: Doing thesis
    Winters: lol fail

    why will it get removed?

    Maynooth's an absolute hole,

The windiest, Coldest, wettest, most boring place I'v ever been to, Apologies for slatting the place but it really was the best decision I ever made dropping out of middle earth. Enjoy being free.

One of my best friends dropped out of college and it was the smartest thing he ever did. Makes a rake of cash now, the bastard.

    *envy*

I know it's not the reason why we go to college but having a degree definitely increases the probability of you earning more than the average wage.

Although you could question how meaningfull that statitic is if you consider that the average recipient of a degree would have above avaerage intellegence, so whats to say they wouldn't have earned more anyway?

Then you could say, well the overall mean wage has increased since we have a more educated population but then so has inflation.

I say good bye to maynooth in 2 weeks after finishing 4 years in the wettest place in ireland....
Good bye to my hours spent surfing the web, avoiding lectures, only having 20e to spend on groceries for a week, goodbye to 4 hour bus journeys to go home to donegal, goodbye to overcrowded reading room and library and goodbye to dunnes who aren't 24 hr anymore! !

Best wishes to everyone moving on, for whatever reasons.

If you ever want to use a terribly slow computer that crashes every five minutes, pay twice what you'd pay for a Mars bar in any other Londis in the country or sit in the most uncomfortable plastic blue seats in the world, I'm sure you'll be more than welcome back.

In reality though- there's much more you grow to love about the place. Come back to see how it grows, I know when I leave (Which is MILES off) I'll probably end up walking around the place every now and then for the sake of it.

True, there is something very peaceful about the south campus, walking round under the trees but i'd say i'll be graduating in october (cos i'm repeating a module in summer ) and running for the hills!
