I thought elephant grey was bad but that is hideous. Looks like a clay model.

unless beige is your thing. Sat in one and for the most part its made from disposable knives and forks from your local topaz deli...they even kept the sharp edges for texture...

Why do manufacturers design the exterior of cars only? It's fair to say that the majority of low-mid priced cars look okay outside, but look completely forgotten about inside. You spend 90% of your time inside the vehicle, shouldn't it be the nicest place it could possibly be as a result?

The base model can be bought in the US for under 12,000 euro. You shouldn't expect much. It's a cheap car with an inflated price tag.

I don't think I've come across a worse quality or worse looking interior than that of a H2 Hummer... Yaawnn...

You get what you pay for. A more imaginitive choice than a Quasqai. I think people on this board are a bit hung up about interiors anyways.

Fairly sure it didn't have the carbon fiber effect fascia, but on the lines of this. With crap quailty leather made from rat hide.

Yes but the H2 is so bad that it's funny again; just like an 80's action hero movie. Whose fans this car has been built for..

    Que?

Anyway I'm not commenting on cost vs quality or anything subjective like that. I'm just saying it's horrible!

+1. When looking for new car I look at interior at lot for that very reason. I will already be familiar with the exterior.

US cars have cheap & nasty interiors.

Toyota have historically had terrible interiors.

Jasus, the top pic looks exactly like the featureless insides I used to see in my dinky cars. Just a bland chunk of plastic.

On the VW Passat, it looks ok to me, but was in one recently and could not believe the deterioration in quality from VW standards of old. Hollow, cheap plastics, buttons not flush with the dash around the steering wheel etc. People will still buy it as it's a VW but sooner or later the worm will turn...

Yep, far too much talk about interiors. A right bunch of automotive Lawrence Llewellen Bowens...

Anyway the fact that Audis and VWs are always name-checked as the totems of brilliant interior design amuses me.

What about the latest Jags and even the (oldish) Range Rover for example? I even like Alfa interiors - maybe materials and tech is not cutting-edge but DEAR GOD at least it's different to the usual Teutonic perfection so beloved of the IT nerds:rolleyes:

I think interiors a much more important than exteriors. I don't have to look at the exterior of my car, you do.

The German cars tend to be made out of quality materials, or catch a lot of flack when they aren't, but quality materials aren't enough to make a good design.

The Italians, on the other hand, make beautifully designed interiors out of crap materials. The French also do some good design, but must improve quality.

The Japanese make tasteless interiors out of tacky, if durable, materials.

The less said about American interiors the better.

Eh ... there can't be enough talk about Interiors. Sit in a Toyota Yaris, and then sit in a DB9 and tell me that Interiors don't make a difference. To the owner of a car, it should be more important than exterior looks as that's what they get to see 90% of the time. Case in point :

Right enough, I actually think the Yaris or the Primera have the worst dashboards I have ever seen. Far worse than the Dodge at the start of the thread.
Its just a wave of plastic then some dials in the wrong place and another wave of plastic.
Terrible, just awful looking. And wrong too (IMO)!!

The Yaris interior reminds me of a canoe :D. The Japs can make some very reliable cars but they havent got a bogs notion when it comes to interiors.

I think that colour didn't photograph well - AFAIK it's more wine-coloured in real life. +1 to all the comments that a car needs to have a nice interior. One of the cars I looked at last year was the new model Mazda 6 - nice to look at, nice to drive.......but the interior was unbelievably cheap - far too plasticky to live with (and I was coming from the older 6).

+1, was snooping at the Mazda6 and the Laguna in the same showroom a while back, the Lagunas materials felt SO much more plush.

Funnily enough I spend most of my time looking through the windscreen of my cars rather than looking at my interior while driving. Exterior design matters just as much as interior design, and neither matter as much as chassis design or drivetrain design.
So long as the interior isn't pure kak then I don't mind. It's nice to have a nice interior, but it's not a deciding factor.
