Fring - VOIP Application for Mobile, Who's Used This?

    Hi All,

I've just downloaded the application Fring onto my mobile phone.. Just wondering if anyone else out there has used this in the past and how they've gotten on with it?

With Skypes announcement today regarding iPhone availability I think this is an area that' going to receive a lot more attention.

In the past tho I'm not too sure if Skype has been mobile accessible here from Ireland and if this may now change now...?

    Anyways, Fring... Any feedback?

Your should take a look at Blueface's forum : http://forums.blueface.ie/tags.php?tag=fring
There are some interesting discussions/feedback. They have been a Fring partner for a while now.

I use Fring on E51 and it works but call quality can be odd. Main gripe is my skype contacts will just not load and you cannot make calls.

I switched to Nimbuzz (free also) and although it does not do skype out easily, I find it faster to load contacts and more reliable.

To do skype out in Nimbuzz you must first load your contacts on skype via a PC and select the ones you want to be skype out. It works fine then.

One final note. Neither appliaction can autenticate your contact in skype. Therefore although you can call and recieve calls you cannot see who is online until you call them on skype via your PC. Then and only then, the next time you use fring or nimbuzz, the contact will appear online when they connect to the network.

    Try iTalk.
It’s brilliant VoIP client for iPhone. Call quality is great. The only problem is, you have to pay for it. But you get 15 day trial period so give it a go.
