I've got a mint copy of Suikoden 2. It's the PAL version which is even rarer than the NTSC version which goes for 200+ US dollars. It very rare and very sought after since it puts the final fantasy games to shame.

I've also got a PAL copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga as well but it's unboxed. I'd never sell it though, it's my favourite game ever.

I've all the PS1 final fantasy games including Final Fantasy Tactics. They are definitely not rare but highly sought after.

I've also got Vagrant Story, Front mission 3, Chrono Cross, Vandal Hearts, Lunar (unboxed) and Lunar 2 (with everything except the pendant) and promo copies of Vandal Hearts 2 and Castlevania symphony of the night.

I have 2 copies of xenogears but they aren't rare since ea and square decided to rerelease it :(

I wish I had a copy of tactics that worked on my ps1.

I have a very rare Versus Final Fantasy 7 strategy guide.

Its a little torn but a great read. Seen it going for 100s on Ebay.

Don't you have that really gay Japanese shooter on the Saturn? I remember you posting about your Saturn collection and you mentioned it. I checked it on YouTube and was just.. WTF!?!?!

Anyway I would have rare titles if I was stupid when I was younger

I have Limbo of the Lost. Worth 200 Euro last time I checked.

Not sure, will have to root about to see if anything is of value in the collection,
I take it an unboxed copy of Super Mario Bros/Duckhunt isn't going to cut it?

I've got KulaWorld and Kurushi for the PS
Also Castlevania SOTN complete for PS as well.
I've got a ton of other stuff, I'll make a list and post it sometime, although maybe someone could tell me the type of stuff we're talking about?
Is it the like of Steel Batallion?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,406 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Lemme see. I have Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy 6,7,8 & 9, Galerians, Jade Cocoon and Parasite Eve, but Parasite Eve is NTSC. I have Resident Evil Director's Cut with the RE2 Demo. That's it really, everything else is stuff you could still get from Ebay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭TinCool

The only games I have that *may* be worth something are, Meta Galactic Llamas Battle At The Edge Of Time (good old Jeff Minter and his whacky titles for games) for the Vic20, an original cassette copy of Zaxxon for the C64 and an original Jelly Monsters Cart (excellent Pacman clone) for the Vic20.

I doubt very much they are worth anything though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,822 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Almost my entire collection is PS2 games, and the rarest would be...
    Klonoa 2?
    Ico (first print)?
    Gitaroo Man?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

The only thing in my collection that might be slightly rare is Myst on the ps1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭Sgt Hartman

I have Grandia, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Castlevania SotN, Megaman x4 and Megaman x5 for the PS1. Have a perfectcopy of Jet Set Radio for the Dreamcast. Also Have Kevin Keegan's Player manager for the SNES but it's very primitive.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,679 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

I think that all your copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga are actually worthless and as such you should cop on, put away such childish things, and give one of them to me, go on, you know it makes sense!

The thing is that games for the modern formats, PS/PS2/Xbox were published on such vast numbers that there really isn't any supply problem, they are out there, probably in attics across the land, not quite the same thing as an Ultra rare Nes competition cart, or a limited edition MSX, a difference reflected in the prices.

I mean, my Vectrex, 1983, beautiful device, retro as they come, only really sold for about a year before being discontinued, but because there were so many sold they have never become so rare as to be valuable, so you can get an unboxed example for about 100 euro or so, not too bad.
Only some of the games have become obscenely pricey, the light pen, the games to go with it, some limited promo games and materials cost serious money.

I have Klonoa on the PS, a lovely jap copy of Pocket Fighter, it's gorgeous and seriously underated.

I also have grandia 2 but doubt its worth anything really.

collectors, how much would you spend for some games?

Take for instance Suikoden II. Would you pay 83e for this?

I'd find it hard to pay that with a CFW psp :pac:

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,406 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Well Suikoden 2 is an awesome game. I spent 80 euros on Xenogears which wasn't as good as the hype suggested but suikoden 2, I'd gladly pay 80+ euros on. Anyway you'll probably get way more than 80 for a mint pal version.

I think a lot of games from the PS1 era and onwards suffer from Radiant Silvergun syndrome. Radiant Silvergun is far from rare but the massive demand for it drives prices up. It's the only reason to explain the silly prices going for FFVII (sometimes going for prices that match true rarities like Suikoden 2) and other square games despite it being one of the best selling games of all time.

Most of the real rarities are from before this era when a small company could survive with a limited print run in a limited area, especially japan.

I got to say i am tempted. Just 80e is still a lot of cash.

EDIT: Might actually buy this considering i think its probably one of the best RPGs i played. A lot of money though

Have a perfectcopy of Jet Set Radio for the Dreamcast.

I had a sealed copy of this. But I opened it :/ No point in having a sealed copy though, you have to play it.

I don't have anything too valuable. I have FF7, 8 and 9 and Metal Gear Solid from the Ps1 but theres probably loads of them around.

One thing im looking for on ebay at the moment is a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 substance. It has a movable first person camera and a 3 hour edited together cut scene dvd to make a movie. I'd love to get hold of it, one of my favourite games! I saw it so many times in the shops back 2-3 years ago but never got it cos i already had snake eater!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

I have a near mint condition of both Shenmue games on the Dreamcast, which i thought were worth a fair bit, but they are actually cheap enough on ebay. Never gonna sell them though.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,679 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

I too have Keio Flying Squadron 2 for the Saturn, and Keio Flying Squadron for the MegaCD, is that worth anything?

    Edit to this post,
Just looked on eBay and they are looking for $189.95 for Keio Flying Squadron!
I guess that I have a valuable game after all!

If it's the PAL version of KFS it's worth a small fortune, one of the best and rarest games on the M-CD. KFS 2 was only japanese iirc and was quite common but fetches a decent price.

It's not rare at all and also not very sought after because it's fucking awful. I want the 60 hours of my life back that I wasted on that generic, badly written, boring but pretty game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

I had a BBC micro when I was young, the only game I can remember owning for it was Labyrinth. (I think that was the name of it) read somewhere a micro was worth money and remembered it more or less worked only for a few keys on the keyboard. So I go back to the home house only to find me ma had only just binned it a few weeks earlier. :(

The place with the sandworms is good to level up because you can read a book while doing it. I spent hours there to try and beat the secret bosses, failed miserably, realised I hated the game and just finished it to make sure I got it out of the way.

I have the original tetris and super mario bros. game on the gameboy which go for about 5 euros each (not as rare as I thought)

Well, tetris was packaged with nearly all gameboys.

Virtual Boy and a load of games I bought in Japan (brand new!) from a guy who had a crate of them squirreled away in a warehouse.

i know its not a game, but recently i acquired an 040 accelerator for my A1200

I dont really know what games i would have as considered Rare/Valuable , i could try list some that i may think:

    - Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast)
    - Virtual On (Saturn)
    - Guardian Heros (Saturn)
    - Fighting Vipers (Saturn)
    - King of Fighters 97 (Saturn) required special cartridge to function
    - Last Bronx (Saturn)
    - Saturn Bomberman (Saturn duh)

As you can see, mainly fighting titles. Have the pile of Saturn games in the room so i checked but cant remember some of the Dreamcast titles i have.
