It looks like GTA meets the newest spider man game meets the force unleashed... Nothing special imo. Graphics look pretty standard aswell.

Heard about this about a month ago. Didn't know how good it would be, but I have to say that the footage looks very promising.

Looks like it could be good fun!!
Certainly looks like a mix of a few things. but i like the promising

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,645 ✭✭✭Daemos

Looks very theraputic. Completely descimating New York City seems like a good way to relieve yourself of stress or anger.

(With the LC coming up in June, I could do with it now :D)

That looks really good. Always something new to smash up by the looks of it. Some good games due out this year then.

Iv been following this for a few months. My gut says its going to be a hollow experience but i could be wrong.

From what iv read the story is very average and the gameplay is overly simplified, you press one button and Alex does the rest himself .

Its a very similar game to infamous so it mite be worth waiting till prototype is out before deciding what one to get.

    When is this released?

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

    Due out Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

    When is this released?

12th June [Yeah what Pat said ^^]

Worryingly there have not been any/many reviews for this yet. There is speculation that this is because of a review embargo being put on websites and magazines.

I'd advise giving this a week and check some reviews before a purchase.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 137 ✭✭coopersgreen

    Nice one, cheers.

    Some reviews coming in now

    IGN review...average

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭cabrwab

That aint good news that there's very few reviews out there. And ign Giving it only an average review aint great. Was holding out for this over infamous now im not sure!!

Get inFamous. It is a lot of fun. The graphics aren't up to much but the gameplay, powers and story are interesting.

I finished it last week and immediately played it again. You have an option of playing the game as a hero or villian, so I took the hero route first.

Probably not worth it as a full-price game as it doesn't have any MP modes, but I would advise picking it up second-hand.

    Thanks otacon,
I played ths demo of infamous and loved it but had being wrestling as to weather or not to buy it with prototype coming out i was def confused.
Multiplayer doesn't bother me much. Rarely have the time to sit down with a game online.

I don't trust movies that don't give press screenings so no way will i trust a game.
    Shouts problems imo.
Even though i know infamous has its problems.

    7/10
from eurogamer, same as they gave inFAMOUS. Make of that what you will (I make it into a definite-buy)

Second hand in a couple of months, I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

I'm just going to rent it if I get the chance I'd say. Had my fill of open world games for the mo'. Last four games I've played are The Godfather II, Fallout 3, Infamous and Red Faction: Guerilla. Think I need a break from 'em!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭Rev. Kitchen

I ll be trading in Infamous for this once ive finished infamous dont think ill be holding onto infamous for long getting a little bit bored by doing the same missions over and over there can be only so many terror buses or clinics to rescue. But it has been pretty entertaining but 7/10 is about right really. No multiplayer, full of bugs, repetitive.

And whats worse i did 100% of neon then i was on 94% of the second area finished that but im on the other side of the bridge i wanted to clear 100% of it but cant get back across

They open open a route back to The Warren from the historic district after like the first main story mission in the historic district, or at least soon after anyway.

Considering IGN gave it an average score, the same reviewer gave InFamous a 9.2 as well. So, if you go by this reviewer then you'll enjoy InFamous a lot more. InFamous looks a lot better anyway IMO.

infamous is definitely far superior to prototype, which is in truth a bit messy

IMO: I'll be trading in Infamous for Prototype on Friday.

Completed Infamous twice, good and evil, but the annoying thing is, it doesn't make a difference!!! The story changes in no way at all! The game is boring, characters are idiots and is overall a kids game, in comparison to prototype.
The most annoying thing is, i went for a Platinum trophy but one of the key missions didn't give me one for some reason and my only way of getting it is playing through it again!!:mad::mad: Defo getting rid of it friday...

Gamestop's window says they'll give 35 Euro for it trade in... not bad, BTW: Does anyone know the Gamestop deal for Prototype, the pre order and price etc? Cheers.

in comparison to prototype which you havent played, but which is actually infinitely more boring, has shoddy controls and feels like a mess of ideas all thrown together?

let us all know what you think of prototype over the weekend:p

Buying infamous next friday, not going near prototype. Spending that 60€ on fallout 3 instead :o

Obviously i haven't play it yet!! Jesus..

Im just saying looking at it, it's 18's and appeals to me more..
Infamous has stupid enemies and climbing stuff is just not fun... you have to use the train like.. i'll keep ya posted :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

Only thing i notice about prototype is that you can run up buildings, hurl around rock like fists and there's gallons and gallons of blood (which is not a good thing, gore is made to cover up... ****ness).

you seem to be very caught up on the age and blood levels in games

how old are you, out of curiousity?

for the record too, getting around the city is far far far easier and more enjoyable in infamous than it is in prototype. the parkour stuff is fun for a while but it gets old really fast due to being a little fiddly

there is plenty of blood and guts, but if youre looking for that in a 3rd person adventure game my recommendation would be wolverine

You should get the collectors edition of Fallout if you can find it. The lunchbox rocks. You can bring in for your final Leaving Cert exam!

Ugh.. i'm not caught up in age or blood and guts... i'm 17 and like addictive fun games i feel i get value from, and i didn't get any of that from Infamous... I just feel a bit ripped off from it and am hoping that Prototype will surpass it... TBH i'm fairly annoyed that neither have multiplayer, it's BS IMO. But i just don't get the great reviews of Infamous, it annoys me, it's average at best.

InFamous is one of the top great games on PS3 atm and I don't understand why you would call it a kiddies game and say that Prototype will be better just because the age is 18? Heck if you look at the likes of Fifa being 3+ years, UFC being 15 and Street Fighter being 12 and all of them games being played probably more than the 18+ games.

The games I listed are not kiddies games just because they have a low age limit.

Dear Christ... ok forget about me MENTIONING the fact it's 18's, i dont care about that. Infamous is a kiddies game with the story, characters and enemies.

Just my point on this debate. I got hold of a promo copy of Prototype on Tuesday. The game has not left my PS3 since. I'm only on Day 4 of the infection with 20% of the population infected and the story has me hooked. There's plenty of new abilities to upgrade to with experience points and you can cause absolute chaos if you so wish. The shapeshifting is cool aswell. Nothing like sprinting into an Army strong point and grabbing hold of a Captain and taking him up to the top of a building and consuming him so as to gain access to an Army building. I can wholeheartedly say I would recommend this game to anyone. Only played the demo of Infamous so cant comment fully on it. But it didn't tempt me to buy it!!

If anyone is on the fence about prototype you can get it here for €40

I think I'm still on the fence, even at that price, but fair play for the link.
