    Hi,

Has anyone had a personal trainer before, did you find it worth while, how much did you pay for an hour?

I've enquired with a personal trainer that was advertising and i was shocked at how much he wanted €50 an hour. Is this the average?

    Thanks

Can be anything between €30 - €120+ depending on the trainer.
€50 would be far from unusual.

That is the average around the country.
If however you are living in Dublin then that would be a very good price. Usually would be 60euro.
Usually (and I say that term with caution) anyone that offers less is not a recognised trainer and is just trying to get people in the door. Personally I would pay for quality and if he/she is up to standard then go for it. Better off achieving your goals than failing them!

50 is a good price for the hour. Some will offer deals like 4 sessions for 170 or something similiar

This might be a stupid question but if you get a personal trainer, do you take them to your gym with you? Like, do most gyms just allow you to bring your personal trainer in with you? I am thinking of doing a few sessions and it was something i thought of!!

Most gyms would have a list of PTs you can hire privately.
Sometimes they are working for themselves and make use of the facilities and other times they are working as staff and take on PT work to supplement their income and gain experience.
    Nothing wrong with either method.

But I don't know would a gym allow you to bring your own PT into your gym and you can see why.

*Lees*, if you don't already have a PT maybe ask your gym have they a list of people available.
Maybe it's one of the instructors in the gym and they might be available.

jackira - if you pick the right gym to join, you will be given the right programme and have someone there to monitor your progress and provide all the motivation required. It will be much more cost effective than hiring a personal trainer. What part of the country are you in - maybe someone can make local recommendation.

    Good luck

Yeah there is a personal training service at my gym, it's one of the instructors and he seems really good! (He does some of the classes at the gym so I have dealt with him) It's just from reading on here I was under the impression that your better off to get personal training sessions from someone outside of your own gym!! I'll enquire about it when im there later! Thanks!
