Did anyone see this guy on the channel 4 news?

    http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/uk/direct+action+this+weekend/3044372

Crazy stuff, don't know how he is not arrested for incitement to riot.

"mutually assured destruction" sounds scary, had me wondering what would happen if this was a Muslim group, me thinks it would be a very different conversation....

this is going to be hilarious. a bunch of rich kids trying to give their lives a purpose by throwing their mates through a McDonalds window.

Wonder what would happen if a load of English chavs showed up. The crusties wouldn't be too interested in a working class revolution then.

Interesting how confused "what you would have liked to have happened" with "what actually did happen" in order to make yourself feel a little less insecure.

I dont know guys they might have a point, the capitalists have fallen, but they are not stepping aside for some new ideas, they are bailed out by us and we all know they will stick it to us again, when they get back on their feet

Well im sure they are thinking along those lines

I like the capitalism days TBH

i think we should make it a spectator sport event, i love watching the riot cops kicking these wasters around. I just wish they were a bit more creative in their approach, batons are so inefficient.

A few years ago, during the May Day stop the city riots, a few of these tree hugging soap dodgers got into one of the exchanges in London. I can't remember which one, but it was one of the last exchanges with a trading floor.

The traders were waiting for them inside. about a dozen anarchists got the crap beaten out of them...they didn't go back the following year :D

I think the cops in indonesia have the right idea.
They fill the water canon truck with a amixture of CS gas, water, purple dye and sewage.
The hippies will be considerably smellier after an encounter with that lot!

My Da calls em 'The Smellies'.

    So do I.

They probably come from old money, ie. families with estates. They don't need time off work to protest. Because they don't WORK!

They should threaten them that if arrested, they will be given social housing in Darndale, with a job in Tesco's working nights early mornings.

That'll learn em'. That'll learn em' good!

In theory, yes, I agree, but recent events would point that humanity is too flawed and too greedy for a capitalist society to work.

As regards "better colutions"; I'd point at Scandavian models where people are placed before profits, resulting in a much fairer and much more open system. It's still capitalist, but it's a little more left and has a much better balance.

    Yeah.... that'll work...

The problem is that, if you look beyond the stereotyopes, you might actually see that there IS an agenda behind all this. Admittedly, they're going about it in completely the wrong way and doing themselves no favours whatsoever (and for the recond, NO, I do NOT support them), but you can't solve a porblem like anarchism without first understanding it, and people are waaaay too lazy to try understanding something.

Whereas the trade unions holding the country to ransom so they can get their payrise, at a time when half the country is having their paycut is a great demonstration of how socialism works

Theres considerably more to it than that. Theres the perception and fact that theres been no real move to engineer a more equitable tax regime. Unfortunately it takes a crisis to motivate people to get off their arses to do anything about it.

It should be pointed out that this kind of thing is hardly conducive to asking anyone, anywhere to taking any sort of cut....

As opposed to the banks having the taxpayer risk our entire economy to bail out their private businesses being a great demonstation of how capitalism works?

Sure wasnt rampant socialism that got us into this mess..

    O look, Reductio Ab Absurdum.

If I gave all my money to the poor, I would myself be poor and therefore part of the problem. However, should I and others give some money to the poor, we increase their wellbeing at no great cost to myself.

Here we go again "Can you link to something..can you name a source..blah blah blah".
What an utter load of rubbish you come out with.
You accuse me of being misinformed when the sad fact is that you know absolutely nothing about anything.
Nonsensical ideas aout howe to bring up kids when you have no kids, taking a contary position on a host of subjects you know nothing about and this constant bleating to back things up with links.
How old are you?twenties?Something like that?A former student i'll bet as well?
I know waht i'm talking about because i was knocking around with people who considered themselves anarchists when you were shiiting in your nappies.
I met people who were ALF activists, people who constantly plotted to burn down mcdonalds, blow up laboratories, people who lived on communes, new age travellers the lot.
Almost without exception these people were from well to do families and were very well spoken.
The idea of anarchism and militant vegetarianism had its roots in the 1980's post punk movement started by bands like Crass and Conflict.
As with a lot of people led by music, the followers adopted the lifestyle off the peg which in a lot of cases cost money to do.
Mommy and daddy gave them the money to buy combats and smoke dope all day..and mommy and daddy were usually never too far in the background should things not go to well with the new lifestyle.
I knew a blok who rented a falt in the north circular road with a few of his mates and every week he'd bum a cheque off his father for the rent...he got fined for smashing up a fur shop and his dad payed the money before sonny dear had a chance to go to jail.
That was then, people now are far less militant and more complacent.
If you dont beleive me about the kids who call t hem, selves anarchists nowadays just look at the clothes they wear..they may be scruffy for effect but they are NOT poor.

Of course I do. I accused you of guessing and being uninfromed. Your word is not sacred and has to be backed up like mine and everyone elses. Sometimes, yes, I tend to know nothing about something, in whcih case I don't post on the thread.
Nonsensical ideas aout howe to bring up kids when you have no kids, taking a contary position on a host of subjects you know nothing about and this constant bleating to back things up with links.

I've lived with kids, worked with kids and probably spent more hours with kids than most adults do, but we're getting off the point here.
How old are you?twenties?Something like that?A former student i'll bet as well?

Wrong on both counts - I'm 38 and with the exception of three night courses, have done no formal education since the leaving cert. Most of my experience comes from travel and living abroad and seeing how other societies work; as well as seeing the pain greed and crass capitalism causes people. Look around: there are a lot of miserable people about.
I know waht i'm talking about because i was knocking around with people who considered themselves anarchists when you were shiiting in your nappies.
That would put you you late 60s/early 70s? Would be interested in hearing your experiences though: were you one yourself, or just hang out with them? What were their motives, or how did they see their 'perfect' world?
I met people who were ALF activists, people who constantly plotted to burn down mcdonalds, blow up laboratories, people who lived on communes, new age travellers the lot.

Now we're getting somewhere. Keep talking.

Mommy and daddy gave them the money to buy combats and smoke dope all day..and mommy and daddy were usually never too far in the background should things not go to well with the new lifestyle.

Ah, but there were parents so they knew more about looking after kids and stopping them from becoming criminals than any one else, don't they?

Interesting background. If you'd come out with this earlier on it would have saved a lot of hassle. Personally, I don't approve of their methods but I believe there is some misguided notion behind their actions rather than just pointless vandalism. Did you ever manage to find out what they thought they were doing?
