Its unbelievable Irish people are loosing there jobs left right and centre(including myself), i went to a interview for a job yesterday, there was i would say 150 people going for the interview, out of the 150 there was about half non Irish, now there is mass unemployment in my town, so most of the irish people there knew we would not be able to get jobs( there was only 6 jobs on offer) and most of the current employees of the buissness are non national, so basically today i was told i dint get the job surpise surpise, yet when i went in earlier i questiond one of the members of staff who i regonised from the interview yesterday, he was a non national who had got one of the six jobs and told me 2 of his friends had also got a job there and all of the people who were sucessfull in the interview were non national i know this beacause i asked him and he told me straight out, now what is bugging the xxx out of me is they say irish people wont take jobs that are min wage, well i can tell you most Irish people there yeaterday were willing to work, yet they hire all non nationals, this bugs the xxx out of me, we need irish jobs for Irish people, my town has mass unemployment of local Irish people yet they hire all non nationals. Im not racist but people are getting sick of the mass imigration that continues in this country even when we are in a recession and there are not enough jobs to go around. Take Australia for example last week they restricted immigrants be they Irish and elsewhere and rightly so, because there labour market is under threat form immigrants, yet Ireland continues to accept mass immigration without any checks or limmiting of numbers. This is just plain crazy and more and more Irish people are getting pissed of with this policy, now what happens next is racism which i dont want to see happen here in Ireland, but its bound to happen when the goverment even when the country is in recession continues to allow mass immigration.

I was at the public sector march and there were very few foreigners there.
The reason is that they all work in the private sector, the reason they're there at all is because irish people didnt fancy doing the jobs up till now and they're competing agaisnt foreign workers.

As most "foreigners" in ireland are probably white its not racist to talk of foreigners.
It may be xenophobic but thats not the same thing.
Its racist to say he hates black foreigners,or asian foreigners or aborigine foreigners because they're a differnet race..you see?

Yeah Yeah take a hike back to your cushy public service job and hopefully the govermnet will fire half of ye bums and cut the rest of yer pay by 20%, ye have no support from the ordinary workers of ireland, ye dont have to compete with non nationals who will work for nothing, so dont let me hear ye wining on the streets about the pension levy ye deserve yet and more, try living in the real world where most of the 354,000 Irish unemployed are.

I am from Kerry and yes there are immigrants a few polish dotted here and there and their hot blonde women have really brightened the place up alot and helped get the natives slightly up to scratch, I had the luck to have a few into my bed over the years and must say it was good.

I am planning on immigrating myself as I have lost all confidence in our Political system and am moving my finances out of the country before April's bloodbath.

We need to restrict immigration; Yes to help our own natives as not all Irish can Emigrate like me. I was totally baffled to have a group of Tibetans infront of me today at the RDS explain to the Alberta stand guy that they did not have a passport.... I was thinking how the hell did they get into Ireland:confused: We need to really tighten up on Non-EU Immigration for the time being but extend the Olive branch to the Anglophone world, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwean's of British descent, Canadians and Americans. We need to make it easier for these people to settle here and they come from developed economies with Education and good backgrounds and will contribute something more than the checkout till in Pennys.

Plus most are of European Origin (White) and this allows for seamless entry into Irish society and Culture without the Multicultural claptrap from the Liberal left which strives to preserve identity and make sure that they never integrate into Irish society of life. Unwillingness to learn English or do Irishy things being a proper example.

I can't really say much without being hypocritical (I am Emigrating for Adventure and Health reasons) as I plan to emigrate to NZ for the short term, however Inter-Anglo immigration is a totally different kettle of fish to placing non English speaking African or Chinese immigrants in low paid jobs where they are probably being exploited.

What is needed is a wage where the cost of living can be made easier for all involved. We are an overpriced out of control economy where the natives can't afford to work in the lower paid jobs in order to meet the aspirational requirements of Irish society, whereas your typical Immigrant will bust his guts for crap wages and abuse while living poorly and saving hard for his/her dream life back home which can be achieved due to our out of control wages and currency disparities. The Irish minimum wage for a month could be a years wages in some countries so the allure is obvious.

We need to cut costs and see Irish people being able to live off these jobs which will then allow our highly educated professionals in turn dominate the skills ladder. During the boom our Doctors and other high value professionals and important were earning less than your average idiot chippy who made "the kitchins in da bildings" Something had to give and the sh1t has now hit the fan, the immigrants are here and there will be hard job shifting them.

Out of Interest where in Kerry were these jobs and where is the mass unemployed town?

    For the love of god.........................

We live in something called the EU, where members are allowed to travel and work freely between countries !

I was in work yesterday and was reading a CV handed in by some slovakian guy and he was a superviser in a sanyo factory and a mazda one, and was also fluent in czech, polish, and german. Now if me and him were to apply to a job who'd get it ? Him cause he's the most experienced

People shouldn't have the mentality that they DESERVE the job because they're irish, people are rewarded jobs because they work had, or show promise or have the qualifications

Technically, I'm an immigrant too. I stole a job from a German. Of course, the fact that I can probably do it better might have madea difference.

Ok, I haven't read Irish laws but even if it's not stated I still think that it is only fair if both candidates are equaly good then national must have a right. It's just a simple protection of irish citizens rights. I'm not irish but even I agree with that. Of course it happens that Irish didn't get that job and non-national did but there are reasons why is that so. In most cases non-nationals can get the job if he agree to work for less. I presume it's different now but we all know how it was even year ago. What isn't fair I think is the situation that non-national is being fired this year for reason that some national now is ready work for his small salary because all puffy salaries are gone.

What you're suggesting is positive discrimination, which is still discrimination, if two candidates are exactly the same in regards to experience and qualifications then the employer is gonna start looking at what awards they might have one, one person may have nothing where as the non national may have been a national champion in judo or whatever, then the non national should get the job

and also in fairness, when has there ever been an interview where two candidates are exactly teh same
