    Hey lads,

Long time reader but never really post.

Been hitting the gym now on and off for a about 10 months or so, i work shift work so some weeks i get up early and go to the gym before work and others i go when i come home from work in the evening. now my diet is fairly good (could do with improvment but i AM getting there with making it better) im trying to get to the gym at least 3 days a week, im doing mostly free-weights, day one i would do Chest+Biceps, Days 2 would be Shoulder+triceps and day 3 would be Back, as i play rugby on monday and wednesday i would use that training as my day of legs.

Now my main question is this:

iv been asking a few people and iv heard different stories that when you are doing an exercise EG: Dumbell Chest Press that you are ment to bring the dumbell down until you feel a strain on ur chest and then exhale up, one you reach the top (arms extended up) you are ment to "squeeze/tense" you chest and then complete the movement for the amount of reps that you want whilst squeezing your chest?

Why should we do this and is it the same for all other workout's like triceps/biceps/back/shoulders etc????

thanks a mill in advance for your help

    ADO
