The Crow is arguably the best film yet to be adaptated from a Comic Book. A truly "dark" film, it is beautifully shot, acted and presented as a story. Just sitting back and watching Eric Draven roaming the city at night alone is worth seeing this film. Brandon Lee is undoubtedly the star of the show, but he is more than complimented by the performances of Michael Wincott as Top Dollar and Rochelle Davis as Eric's young friend.

I have a soft spot for this film as I'm not usually fond of films that are primarily within the "fantasy" genre. Johnny Depp is perfect for the role of Edward, and in spite of such little dialogue, it's amazing how well Depp can make the audience feel so much for Edward. Don't miss it, it's the perfect "outsider" story which can be watched over and over again without disappointment.

Yes, Francis Ford Coppola took quite a few liberties with this adaptation, yet, it is still in a way the most faithful homage to Bram Stoker's novel to date. It is certainly worth a watch for Gary Oldman's performance alone. Of course, it is also deliciously shot, I can't stress that enough. It's a real attack on the senses.

If we are talking about the films that deal with the darker side we are I would suggest a more violent style .

First film that came to mind , was the city of god (Cidade de Deus)

Damn Youtube for failing me! But alas, The Hole (2001) is definitely one to watch. If you like films where it is absolutely impossible to predict what's going to happen next, then this is definiely for you. Can't recommend it enough.

Great film and I was thoroughingly impressed by the child actors, the actress who played Eli was enthralling, when she didn't have anything to say she said a lot more with just her facial expressions.

However I was made quite uncomfortable by one of the scenes. I'm wondering if someone can help me out here,
when Osker peaked in at Eli changing did I really see what I thought I saw?

Halloween - closing 10 minutes of the movie.Contains spoilers.

The movie that probably single handidly influenced me more than any other and started my love of horror cinema many moons ago.For me it is the perfect horror movie and I watch it at least 5 or 6 times a year.For almost its entirety there is a sense of dread and forboding in it.It doesnt have to resort to gratuitous gore or corny telegraphed scares like 99% of the current glut of horror movies.The iconic score also adds something that most movies cannot touch.Every horror movie director working today should be made to watch this film on a continous loop for 2 weeks solid before attempting to film anything.I think it is the perfect dark movie.

It's really good if not entirely accurate. There's another Ed Gein film. Even more low budget than the one I just mentioned but is more accurate if not entirely gory as the other one.

I've only seen both of these in the last week or so and they are so good, in a ridiculous way. Absolutely off the wall stuff. Oh and if you do watch Planet Terror, look out for the fake trailer Machete, Rodriguez is making it into a real film and I can't wait.:D
