I was just reading the paper and saw that again this year fire brigades were attacked on Paddy's Day. Why do these people do this?

    Because they are idiots.
    (the people, not the firemen)

    They're scum. Simple as.

There's a lot of people on this planet who simply do not deserve to live. Unfortunate that in the West we make greater than average efforts to keep them this way. :(

I blame lack of education and morals, these people who do these things were raised by illiterates who don't understand the values of life or appreciate what they have.

    IDIOTS!

I don't think their literacy or otherwise has a direct impact on their scumminess. They're just f~cktards and trying to blame it on their lack of education is a cop out.

The system failed them i.e. when the system decided corporal punishment was a no-no.

    Fuckin idiot scum.

    Chicken and egg syndrome here.

    Who failed them?

I say the parents failed them but then again who failed the parents?

I lived in an area where they would throw rocks at bus's, ambulances, gardai, fire brigades and would stand in front of the fire brigade to block them going anyplace.

An Post stopped delivering to the area for a time, my Sky installer refused to come into the area, the bus would not come into the area after 8pm in the Summer and 6pm in the winter because of the darkness.

These fvckwits ruin the area, ruin society and encourage negative thoughts about the good people who actually live in their areas.

Finglas is simply a victim of the chicken and egg syndrome like many other places in the country.

Cos they're idiots. This is one reason why I'm pro choice. Let the scumbags abort their kids and we'd have less of the feckers :P

For some reason their hatred for the "cops" extends to anyone is uniform.
They will stone fire trucks and ambulances and then wonder why it takes so long for the emergency services to arrive when their granny is ill.

The fire engines need to switch off the sirens and lights, as they're clearly being mistaken for ice-cream vans. When the mistake is discovered and the little tyke's hopes are raised, violence ensues.

I can see Vigilante justice making its way back to Dublin. I hope it does an Angry mob will put these scumbags in there place.

Reinstate a Fascist Regime and the scums-problem would be easily fixed.

I find it difficult to understand this too. I mean, it's not as if they're the gardai, and are out to 'get them' so to speak. The fire brigade help people and save lives!!! People who throw stones at the fire engines must be inbred degenerates, with nothing to do.

Before people jump down your throat, I agree. Take the Citizen for example. Legend.

Problem is, the law is so twisted that these **** are protected. When there's a few reforms in the courts and some people won't be thrown in prison for defending themselves, people will stand up more. Like it did back in the day, and it worked quite a bit too. These little ****ers wearn't tolerated.

The other very relevent flipside is knowing where to draw the line. People can take a fight too far very easily. There's a fine line between looking out for your neighbour and imposing mob rule. It's too much hope to expect everyone to know what that is.

I say fix the loopholes in the law. I also reckon that the legal system should allow a parent to dicipline their child, as i believe a lot of problems stem from this. Parents smacks their child nowadays and it's taken away from them for "abuse". Very depressing.

I have to say since the Provisional IRA went on ceasefire, there has being an increase in crime in working class areas, when the movement was active, scumbags of all shapes and sizes were terrified that if they stepped out of line they could end walking funny, but these days scum operate with impunity, nobody to fear but the Gardai, who are hardly anything to be afraid of

In Moneymore in Drogheda they used to always call the fire brigade and stone it. The same estate that 4 people were killed in a house fire a few days ago. Hopefully the people that take the p!ss out of the firebrigade in that estate will now cop on what an important service it is

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,397 ✭✭✭✭Degsy

The ****in fire brigade should have an escort
Not of guards in uniform but a few vans full of masked-up,hired-by-the pound,knuckle-dragging thugs armed with pickaxe handles.
If the fire engine is attacked, these blokes jump out and smash the offenders to ****.
They wont be doing it gain.

The Fire Brigade should leave signs around these "hot-spots" saying - "In the event of a fire, don't call us, we'll call you"

or alternatively list the new emergency telephone number for those areas:
    04578241563148792540008785492166971354974253184570005684211658394543647521893

My cousin works for the fire service and was punched and kicked in the face and stomach whilst trying to put out a house fire before.

Why can't the likes of these people be put onto aran islands and have the place bombed.

It seems we are just to easy with scum in this country ( & the uk ).
Those police on the uk cop shows are useless. always talking to drunken scum and then letting them off.
In the us the lads are called "law enforcement". They don't take **** the way the irish and uk cops do,

It's a never ending circle of scum. Look at their parents. Fella from my road and his son walking down the road past my house last summer some time and whilst looking out the window seen the kid throw a empty can of coke into the front garden and the dad observed him do it and laughed. If that was my dad when i was young and i did that i'd have got a clip around the head and i can assure you i would'nt have done it again. Small thing you might be saying but it sets a pattern of disrespect that continue's all their lives. I went out and told the young lad to go back and pick it up and go throw it into his own garden. His father did'nt say nowt. Typical low life scumbag. To be honest you can tell the way the kids will turn out even before they are born from the parents. I've said it before and i'll say it again...you need a licence for a dog but anyone can have a child. Call it want you want but the problems will continue in this country and others until that is sorted out.

    Why, why, why??

Scum: "Here, take that for trying to put out the fire that's destroying my/my neighbour's/friend's house"

What is their objection to firemen?

I can assure you from experience they are NOT afraid of the Garda.

Same here. My neighbour caught a little brat (roughly 12) who had kicked off all car mirrors on one side along the entire road. Caught him and rang the guards. So that went all ok.
Later on the father and the kid showed up at the neighbours house and threatened to kick his head in. Great lesson that kid learned from his father there. He'll probably do it again next week.

None of AH's keyboard warriors (you included) would ever actually follow through on their idle threats.
They just want someone else to dispense their idea of justice while they cheer from the sidelines.

The point being vigilantes are a stupid idea. Always have been.

or that they would like a load of middle-class/student boardises who get a horn for mob justice from behind their keyboards any more than they'd like the scobes who stone the emergency services.

Is that a threat or a promise?

    lol

I really don't think there's anything anyone can do to sort out social justice, the guards don't want to go into these areas and I can't blame them to be honest. I know people laugh it off when people say that education is the answer. there's actually alot to be said for it. but i'm not talking about maths and english like. Ya know what I think would work? bring it back to basics, take people out of an urban situation, like the areas mentioned above, land them out on to Clare island with a shovel and some wood some chickens and a cow. that's the type of education needed. constantly being handed whatever you wanted and not seeing any future bar everyday existance can't be good for anyone. just my opinion

    Better to blame the inbreeding....

I think they should pick a few random fire engines and put a sniper in the back. In the event of someone attacking the fire engine or blocking its path or whatever, the sniper removes the head of the scumbag. It would only have to be done once and the threat of it would be enough from then on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,611 ✭✭✭✭Sam Vimes

Or a slightly more realistic solution:

Put an armed garda in the back and if the fire engine is attacked he hops off and arrests the scum. Then they get charged with impeding the fire engine and if anyone dies in the house you throw in a murder charge

Edit: And if no one dies they get charged with attempted murder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭metaoblivia

My brother is a firefighter/paramedic and the engineer on his shift, and he tells me that anytime they get called to a certain area of town, a few scumbags will always try to attack the firetruck. They mainly throw rocks or bricks. On a few occasions, some have even tried to assault the firefighters when they arrived on scene. According to my brother, the most dangerous part of his job so far hasn't been fighting fires, it's going into those parts of town.
It's hard to wrap my head around because it's not like the firefighters are there to arrest anybody.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 577 ✭✭✭Milky Moo

I can't even wrap my head around why someone would do this, what's to be achieved?does it give them some manner of credibility with their peers?
That level of idiocy has to be a mental defect.
I can understand why these people don't like the guards (I don't agree with them but on a pyschological level I can understand it)
But when it comes to fire and emergency services it just doesn't make any sense

I like the sound of that, in the UK the FS have cameras on them ( do ours have them ?) but it seems to do damn all.

Hmmm. I know it sounds a little crazy ... but somehow, this sniper idea appeals to me.

Maybe they could be armed with modified rifles that fire little moist pellets of shoite. Less fatal, but more humiliating for the offenders.
