Loose skin/stretch marks

    Hey guys.

Was just reading through the Fat to Fit thread (here ) which was posted by MagicMarker in another thread. Inspirational stuff, especially as i would hope to posting my own shots up there in a few months. In the last year have lost over 4 stone - dropped down from around 16stone to under 12. Still have a bit of body fat to shed before i can get my after pic up there.

Anyway, the last bit of fat i need to shift is around the stomach (surprise surprise). it seems to be stubbornly lingering. However, i'm starting to notice the skin around my stomach is starting to get very loose. Its also got a fair amount of stretch marks too.

I was a little bit worried about it, but not too much - i assumed it would clear up. However, i noticed that a few people on that thread suffered fairly badly. E.g. the last guy on this page.

Just wondering, will this skin tigthen up eventually, or will i be left with it flabbing there indefinitely. And will the stretch marks clear up? I would hate to think that after putting all thw work in to get a flat stomach i'd still have cause to be embarassed taking my tshirt off at the beach!

Fair play for all the hard work and effort, its great that its paid off for you. In relation to excess skin I suspect its something you could talk to your doctor about and see can they recommend anything for you.

    Congrats on the weightloss.
Skin loses its elasticity over time and when skin has been stretched over its elastic limit it forms stretch marks. The loseness and stretch marks would indicate that the skin wont contract anymore which is what happens in some pregnant women whove had children, the only alternative is surgery in some cases to have the skin pulled back in aka a tummy tuck.Theres a product called bio-oil which is used by people also for skin complaints like stretch marks, ive heard good review about it.

    Argh!

I was hoping yo would say it would go away all by its self! Its a bit annoying to think that after all the hard work, i'm still going to have all that loose skin there.

I've heard anecdotally on Sparkpeople, that it takes a year for your skin to settle into how it is going to be after losing the weight.
