Have a pint with him that he bought, then kick his arse

    I like Eamo

I think you're mistaken. I don't know anyone who loves him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,230 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

I like him on tv stirring shít, but wouldn't be able to sit through a pint with him.

Why are we referring to him simply as "Eamonn"?

Can't stand him. He loves to be loud, controversial for attention and publicity sake and is full of himself.
If his likes is what RTE is producing for the future still, RTE will further decline in viewership for his type of low IQ "dumbed down brain fodder for the masses".

I'd love to have a jar with him and talk about the spanish league, he's an expert on it you know.

Because in a way we're all friends with Eamonn.

Agreed, clearly it should be "Eamon"

He interviews public figures for Radio 1 you know.
I'd hardly call that a dumbed down show.

A lot of these are university professors and economists. A few artists too.
    Dumbed down?

In his eternal quest to be noticed, he has gone so far over the edge that he possibly believes his own bull**** at ths stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

i'd have a pint with him, if only to see what he's like without a camera or tape recorder in front of him, just one pint though

I have his home phone number ! some laugh ringing him when we are drinking !

This poll needs... "Do an impression of Eamon Dunphy"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,718 ✭✭✭The Mad Hatter

It seems to me that some people from Dublin like Dunphy, and no-one else does.

    That's where you're wrong.

The people who don't like Eamon Dunphy watch him just as much as those who dislike.

I don't agree with everything he says but he's great entertainment.

I agree I might be wrong.
However I strongly disagree that "people who don't like Eamon Dunphy watch him just as much as those who dislike."
I know family and also friends that switch him off as soon as he comes on no matter what programme he suddenly pops up in or is hosting.

Each to their own - he might be entertaining but its lighthearted stuff and for some reason he seems to think he's always right, knowledgeable and an authority on everything - especially on the more serious times he gets involved in discussions. I have yet to hear him say (or its equivalent) just once "yes, your right and I am wrong".

I don't like him, the majority might do.
I just can't stand him and with sarcasm being the lowest form of wit, the bucketfuls he dishes it out in, says a lot about him.

I don't think I would. He seems like the type who would try to avoid getting his round in.

He speaks the truth. Anyone who doesn't like him liives in D4 or has a bias against alcohol

The poll doesn't have enough options.

From the options presented .....having a pint sounds like the best option,

    Eamon Dunphy is a troll.

I agree with this one. He's good craic, as long as I have the option of switching him off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,730 ✭✭✭✭entropi

The man is not afraid to speak his mind, something that this shockingly pc friendly country lacks on tv and radio, and for that i would gladly have a pint with him:)

Agreed. Here he is acting in the film Labryinth.

Ah I like Eamo - he may be an opinionated aul fart but at least he doesnt let people boss him around and in fairness when he's not plastered, he's usually spot on with his punidtry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,367 ✭✭✭Agamemnon

I'd have a pint with him because he's supposed to be normal enough in real life. As RTE rent-a-gobs go, he's quite entertaining. About 20% of what he says is spot-on, the rest is enjoyable twaddle. Gerry Ryan, watch and learn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,432 ✭✭✭big b

Although he sometimes tries a bit too hard, I like him.
He has what most other TV sport pundits lack - a personality.

Like him or loathe him - either way, you tend to notice him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭Captain-America

I personally think he and Bill should get their own tv show of football punditry. It'd be like Aprés Match but better.
They're carrying Graeme Souness and that other guy nobody cares about.

Dont you get it, Graeme Souness is the 'Dead Wood'. It was a master stroke to get him on the panel.

Dunphy is one of the few things worth watching on RTE now a days.

Would YOU let him drive the train to Cork!....I would.

Dunphy's eyebrows are almost as bouffant as much as P. Flynn's... ya boy ya! Class act!

I really feel Bill and Eamonn could reach new heights without them. They'd be the original odd couple.

Ok, all you need to do is pay for P&P, so you send me €50 for that and 6-12 weeks later you'll be playing Halo3 all the live long day.

Wow, prime example there of how alcohol makes topics about drunken TV stars go off-topic.
    Thanks, I'm very very funny.

    No.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 163 ✭✭tangerinepuppet

Hmm, well back on topic, Eamon rocks. I'd have a pint with him any day. Love his Saturday morning conversations on RTÉ 1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,034 ✭✭✭deadhead13

Dunphy rarely fails to p**s me off on champions league nights - but I would probably miss him if he wasn't there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,252 ✭✭✭✭stovelid

I dislike him because he's prone to bullshit, and he shits on Irish football at every opportunity, but he's honest and he does make me laugh when he does the attack dog /turn up drunk thing on RTE, so I'd go for a pint with him, and then kick him on the way home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,179 ✭✭✭RichTea

He's hilarious. He's just a plank, but a damn good plank! The fact that someone like him can be a soccer pundit is pretty funny and it makes watching it all the more enjoyable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

    Thanks, I'm very very funny.
    Eh..No actually.
Dunphy is good entertainment value but his endless backtracking has lost him his credibility as a soccer pundit long ago.
