Yes, I suppose people can invade your privacy by looking in your window. But windows also let in light, and allow you to see out of the house.

    How safe? Pretty safe.

Does polishpaddy really think that microsoft care in the slightest about what he's typing?

You don't sound very bright polishpaddy, would you care to explain what exactly microsoft are monitoring you doing in your little magic box?

No. I'm pretty sure I know about the messages that Windows passes....unless there's some way that they are made invisible on a standard networking system, I can see everything travelling to/from my windows box.

If you mean that there's content on those messages that I'm unaware of....there may be, yes. How do you know that its "everything I type"???

Your very safe once you dont fall out!!! :D

Seriously what are you doing that you are worried about using windows. But I will put this to you if they can tell what images a pervert has been viewing after they have been deleated why are you only questioning windows.

Unless your planning a semtex recipie I would not worry?

Where do you live by the way?

    Is it 224 Joyce road.

Are you reading about......Pamela anderson on windows omg!!!

i cant figure out why we should be concerned! If with all his money he want to know what I am doing on windows he can ring me!

The ball's in polishpaddy's court now... still waiting on an explanation as to how or why Windows is one big elaborate key logger!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Veni Vedi Vici

Hmm. Key loggers are nothing new though its dangers depends on the sensitivity of the data you input. Its fairly easy to install one locally (rather than remotley) if you want an idea of how it works. It's not a great feat of unethical hacking mind you. SQL injections via PHP (server side rather than client side, just like this site) or packet sniffers are always a more commendable place to start.

As for whether or not Microsoft use key stroke logging you'd need to provide a little evidence in suppot of you're claim.

I've always been wary of the amount of semi-voluntary updates that Vista requires though.

I hear Bill Gates checks on everyone individually.

Norton, fair play to them, have brought out two handy devices to help you with any Windows problems: curtains and blinds. If you buy one curtain you get the other half price.

Do you understand the subject ?

Of course! You're worried that if you stand naked near any of your windows the CIA or Mossad will record you on their video cams. I don't blame you either. I was drawing my curtains in my nip yesterday and I'm certain I saw a Mossad operative hiding in my daffodils, so to speak, armed with a zoom. My bare flesh is probably now No 5 on their Top 10 Most Wanted List. It's a God damn worry because I look like Spongebob Squarepants naked, and you know how freaky Spongebob fans are. I'm going to need 24-hour armed protection now, my life will never be the same again.

So, I hear you polishpaddy, I hear you.

Look I hate Windows, but I'm not technical enough to use Linux.

I use FF, GMail, Open office etc. etc., anything to avoid Microsoft.

If you can convince me, I 'll change to Linux.

Not Apple though. Come on. One oppressor for another?

Polishpaddy might beg to differ but as far as I know Macs are grand, especially if you're using Leopard - Tiger, though, did have some security issues, so if you're still using it your every typed word could be recorded by MI6. Just sayin'.

Oh Christ K-9, NOT Linux! The last man to change to Linux ended up in Guantanamo Bay! (All he did was email his Aunty in Auckland to wish her a happy Christmas and Dick Cheney took it as code for a threat to the Homeland). Seriously, avoid Linux, it'll only put you in a whole heap of trouble.

I would accept that to an extent.

    ITunes, Ipods etc.? Same company?

OP, it'd be helpful if you could elaborate a bit more than single sentence posts that frankly comes off a bit incoherent.

Are you saying MS records everything on Windows? Do you have any backup/links?

I have a firewall that logs every packet and my Windows is not sending info out (other than stuff I want to send).
