    Hi,
Some skin ripped on the back of my heal during a match last Saturday. very soar. What's the quickest way of healing this? i.e. getting skin to grow back.

    compeed? plasters? Bath? Hydro-cortison?

    comments welcomed.

Last year I tore some skin off the side of my foot on a rock during an open-water swim. This was a week before my first tri. I thought I was going to have to miss the race as I couldn't wear shoes or runners without a lot of discomfort (and rather bloody socks) as the injury was rubbing against the side of the shoe.

I was recommended Compeed plasters and couldn't believe the difference it made - I would hardly have noticed the injury. It took a few weeks to heal properly, as you would expect, but the Compeed plaster allowed me to enter my race and I now always have some in my training bag.

    Hope this helps.

    Liam

I have just finished "[FONT=verdana,arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1][FONT=verdana,arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1][FONT=verdana,arial,helvetica][SIZE=-1]Fixing Your Feet: Prevention and Treatment for Athletes by John Vonhof" and there are a zillion ways of caring for feet that I never knew about. It's a fairly boring read though. Have a look/search at his blog (http://vonhof.typepad.com/) and you might get ideas as I'm not quite sure what you mean by riped skin? (could be frictioned away, cracked heels, blistered, etc)

I was playing a match. I got a blister on both feet and the back of one heal, a layer of skin had just come off and it was all red and very sensitive.

Need to get it alright for this Weekend.

A few years back I was playing football in America I abraded the skin on the back of my heals from wearing new boots. Its the kinda thing that stops you being able to run cause of the pain and walking is pretty sore too. They had this thing over there, I think it was called Fake Skin or somethin I cant remember, but it was a clear gel type thing that I applied to the back of my heal with a brush, kinda felt like a glue and that allowed to play. Sorry cant remember the name but ya might find it with the Fake Skin name.
