    I dont think he meant "try and fool them that you were taking them down at the time!" :)

    I too think its a much better idea to transcribe them later. I'm quite a staunch freedom of speech activist etc but I would PREFER if the police presented video evidence to the court of the interview if necessary rather then hand written notes... I mean, if we're talking about a full and accurate retelling of the interview I know which i'd be believing first! Also, quite a bit of communication is in the body language rather then the words... Video has that, transcription doesnt. :(
