LTE is not 4G. Given the lack of equipment, 2010 is probably too soon for a consumer service deployment.

Despite what everyone else says I think it looks progressive. Maybe 3 will turn a corner...........then again maybe they will oversubscribe the network.

    LTE is very much 4G.

But yes 2010 is a bit optimistic alright.

Hang on.....why did you move it.....the tech has not even been fully tested yet and you're already calling it Midband?

Indeed, I left out the little chuckle (in the title); mind you 3 do have very deep pockets.

    LTE is 4G...
---No it isn't Broadband. It's Mobile Internet.

Performance unloaded in a 5MHz channel is similar to 3G/HSPA, of 21Mbps for 3% cell area and 1Mbps for nearly 50%. FOR a SOLE user.

Loaded with 20 simultaneous connections it's better than HSPA/3G, nearly twice as good variing from 1Mbps for 3% of users to 1000/20 = 50kbps for nearly 50% of users.

LTE on 2.6GHz using 20MHz channels is five times faster. So 3% get peak speed of 100Mbps and near 50% get 200kbps. But with 4x4 MIMO the 6% of area closest to mast get same speed with four times the users, so speed may be 4Mbps for 5MHz and 16Mbps for 20MHz system, but only within 150m to 500m of mast depending on cell size.

It's hard to see it here before 2012 or later as UPC is using the 2.6GHz and the smaller 21Mbps/5MHz channels at 800MHz, not available till after analogue switch off.

Meteor and 3 can't software upgrade their new 3G masts to LTE till 5 years or so later as switching to LTE on 2.1GHz 3G band kills all the 3G phones modems. No Compatibility for users.
