Is there any point in starting a jogging routine while I smoke 10-15 rolled cigarettes a day? Should I really strive to quit them at the same time?

well smoking is never good but just because one part of your lifestyle isn't healthy doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything healthy so I would say get your runners on and off you go!

Of course it is worth doing! I drink like a fish and smoke a bit but am still in relatively good shape. No point just giving up because of some vice. This reminds me a little of some WW point threads, people saying "I was in the pub so I thought, feck it points are out the window now, no point counting so drink like a fish and have 4 kebabs and count the next day".

Of course your better off getting off the smokes, they really limit your ability to get fit and make it more of a struggle. I wouldn't let that stop ye though, ye can be fit and smoke.
Getting off the smokes would be more beneficial than taking up running but theres always worthwhile keeping yourself fit anyway

Thanks, this is what I needed, too often before I've convinced myself not to exercise for some purely 'rational' reason...

I'm going jogging because I want to lose some weight. Lets just say I put on some christmas weight (Three years ago) which seems to have accumulated... Used to be quite fit and relatively thin back in the day, really need to get back to what I used to be.

Well if you look at it like this, it would be worse smoking 10 to 15 cigs a day and not running, so theres your answer.
btw im in the same boat , and Ive found myself getting fitter even though Im smoking, theres one added advantage too, the cravings deteriate a small bit if your staying fit I find. So you probably wont smoke as many anyway.
