I suspect it might be.

Depending on numbers it might be worth considering buying a single bag of the v. expensive Esmeralda lot, and perhaps if people were up for it, we could gather somewhere and either do some cupping, or just brew it up and taste...

It was Stumptown we got the last time though right? I had two bags, Espresso and an Ethopian one, the Espresso was ok (:eek:) but the Ethopian was not my favourite (:()

Last time out was 49th Parallel from Vancouver. My missus had the Ethiopian Yergacheffe Beloya and loved it! Was dubious about all the fruity undercurrents nonsense beforehand, but was completely won over. She drank it mostly from french press and aeropress and loved it! I only got a sniff of it myself.

Stumptown would be great, if it could happen.

Had an exchange there. They roast to order daily. Esmerealda on Tuesdays only. Roasted and posted on Tuesday will be with us on Thursday, Fedex Priority @ $140

That's based on 20lbs of coffee.

Then I'd go with Hair Bender, and if you want a second bag of something different, Holler Mountain blend.

I don't know if any of their single origin ones are particularly suited to espresso.

Hey all,sounds great,love a good group buy.unfortunately i'm pinching pennies these days coming up to the WBC and up to my eyes in beans so i have to pass on this one. As far as a meet up is concerned i think its a great idea, i'd be happy to host if that suits everyone? I'll bring along some beans too for good measure.
P.s. I've had the herbazu from two diffent roasters and wasn't overly impressed,just my two cents...

If there's a meet-up I'd be interested, but the next two weekends are screwed for me. I'd love to have someone look over my espresso/Silvia/tamping skills and tell me where/if/how I'm fecking up.

well, the Herbazu I tried were different varietals so you never know. I'd be more edging towards an Ethiopian before the whole country gets blended into one massive average lot!

I might also add that if anyone is thinking of jumping in on the group buy but isn't too sure then I would strongly urge you to get on board, no matter how much or little you think you know about coffee. Its by FAR the best way to learn more about coffee and anyone I've ever met through group buys has been an absolute gent (havent seen any women yet!).

I'm pulling my herbazu order - now that Colin planted a seed of doubt, but I'll join in the Esmeralda pot if the meet-up's on a weekday. I might even be able to bring along a, wait for it - woman (!), who likes a decent coffee - and can drink the hot stuff unlike myself.

Cheers Kannon, I'll take a look into that when I'm updating it with the last of the orders.

I still don't know what's best for the meet. I was thinking about hooking up the evening of the delivery (thurs next if FedEX don't let us down, friday if they do) once that suits ch2008, but that may not suit Kannon.

Anyone else with suggestions/ideas? I could put up a poll and enable people to pick multiple options, see what suits the majority if necessary?

I didn't add next weekend 14th/15th as there was so many of us that it wouldn't suit but let me know if you would like more dates added and I'll enter them.

We'll assume that a Saturday/Sunday meet would take place in the morning and a Thurs/Friday meet would be in the evening if that suits too.
