as chanted by mothers/fathers all over the country Im sure many of us heard this growing up and at the time you didnt care and you didnt want to hear it!! However after my pleasant encounter at the dentist yesterday I really did have to thank my mother for insisting on not having any sweets or fizzy drinks in my house growing up!

I am almost 23, no cavities, not one filling and my dentist said my teeth are in perfect condition. When my mother rang me today I actually thanked her!

My friend was also telling me yesterday that her mother is always right! She said its annoying but she is now copping on and following her advice!

So, are you finding out now that yes, your mother is always right and that now that you are older you do thank them?

So Ladies! and lads! What are you thanking your parents for? :)

My mother I wouldn't thank at all as she wasn't there for me when I grew up, well maybe thanking her for staying away.
I thank my dad for everything, even though he's quite cynical the advice he gives is priceless and often hilarious. Think the funniest advice he gave me was when he had 'sextalks' with me when I was younger, oh how I laughed.

I thank my mum for not listening to my screams and complaints for 7 years of dental treatment.
She said it to me, I dont know how many times 'the braces will be worth it in the end'.
    She was right.

Yesterday we were watching the rugby.
She goes: 'but where's the GOALIE'
    Not always right....:D

How I envy you - I am 10 years older and I have only one tooth without a filling, bar my front teeth.

    Congratulations

Same here. I have one filling! Never had a tooth pulled or any dental work bar cleaning every 6 mts or so...but good God i hate going to the dentist!

I thank my mother for advising me about life in general. The line about getting pregnant was "your bags will be on the door step" I know it was harsh..but it was enough!

Mostly, and i know this will sound stupid... but i thank my mother for actually teaching me how to clean things properly! The amount of teenagers who come to work with me for summer holidays etc who don't know how to sweep a floor properly is unreal.

LOL "the look" amazing, i now have mastered that look. It's your only ammo sometimes :D

OMG im almost 23, finished my undergrad and my mother still threatens to kill me if i get pregnant! She always told me, "if you ever come home pregnant, i will go out, hunt him down, kill him and then im coming back for you"

Very harsh very scary but so far i have found it working! The fear! yeah when i do ever try my hand at baking or something i always find myself thankful my mother tortured me into helping her! but im usually on the phone to her asking questions anyway :D

For not beating me to death between the ages of 13-18 because I sure warranted it.
