No Clue About Weights

    Hi all,

I've been a member of a well known gym for a good while, but i've been concerned recently about the amount of people who don't look like they've much experience using weights. A guy today was doing pull-downs with about 60kgs, and was throwing his back all over the place. Another guy was doing flies and throwing the weighs whe he was done.

So should i say something to them or ask the gym what the craic is? I figure it's the gym's responsibility to make sure that the customers are using the equipment properly but i've never seen a gym attendant anywhere near the weights area.

    Any suggestions?

    Steve

It's poor form imo on the gyms behalf.(parden the pun) If you think someone is going to seriously hurt themselves say it to them if you feel you can help them! I know if someone got hurt and I could have prevented it I'd feel awful. After this speak to management or write a letter regarding the issue!
If it's not pointed out to them it could take for someone to get seriously hurt before anything is done..

That's actually a great point and I never thought of it like that before. The other day me and this guy went into the gym at the same time (I don't know him). I went for a warm up on bike and a few seconds later I could hear him grunting over on the rack. When I went over that way I saw him 'squatting' something like 50-60kg real fast, going to well above parallel. I can't imagine how his knees felt and would have said something. He did look like he worked out fairly regularly though so wasn't sure if he knew what he was doing or not. Generally wouldn't give advice in the gym but if I see him again maybe I will drop a tip his way....
