Ya, they're €11.50 in argos I think. Some job, my brother has one and I use it the whole time when I'm home. I weigh 95 kg and it seems to take my weight no bother.

argos have jacked up the price of lots of stuff, I was warning about this a while ago, only went up a week or so ago. The bar is now €18

There was a great pack on offer which is now twice the price.

I have both of those, I prefer the chinup bar in the pack as it is symmetrical. I have had 130kg on my bar no problem.

I did 19 chinups this morning, with OK form, fresh out of bed no warmup. I usually only get ~16.

This was after reading the tips here
    http://stronglifts.com/how-to-do-pull-ups-and-chin-ups-with-proper-technique/
Pull-up & Chin-up Technique. Start each rep from a dead hang with straight elbows. Clear the bar with your chin on every rep.

Squeeze The Bar. And put the bar close to your fingers, not in the palm of your hand. It minimize callus formation.

Breathe at The Bottom. It’s easier to breathe at the bottom. Take a big breath before pulling yourself up.

Chest Up. Don’t let your shoulders go forward: it’s unhealthy for your shoulders. Lead with your chest up & keep your shoulders back.

Look Up. Never look down during Pull-ups & Chin-ups. Look at the bar. Look where you’re pulling yourself up to.

Elbows to The Floor. Drive with your elbows to the floor. This involves your stronger back muscles more.

Bend Your Legs. And cross your feet. Letting your legs hang means less strength in my experience. Squeeze your glutes on the way up.
I do cross legs & grip hard, the 2 in bold were new tips to me, the elbows being the best, I guess it is like people saying to push your legs through the floor on a deadlift.

i had an argos one in my door

i drilled holes in the door frame to mount the brackets then took the bar and to lodge it in the brackets i had to screw it and it would extend at either end, over the course of a few years i periodically had to screw the bar to extend it and keep it firmly in the brackets, because the door frame where the vertical and horizontal pieces meet were separating (it was a wooden door frame)

eventually i took it off cause it was ruining my door

i ended up with a gap of about a centimeter or more at both points in the door frame where the separate pieces met and it just look ruined

hmm, you could use these ones. http://www.irish-lifting.com/product_info_equipment.php?cPath=1_8&products_id=270

Mine is not in the doorway, it is between 2 walls so it is higher up. I would not like one in a doorway. I have gymnastic rings on mine, it would be far too low in the doorway for my liking.

got one in argos 17.99 , not too bad even if it was cheaper, thanks for the suggestion Piriz,
I mounted it in the shed doorframe so don't care what it does to it, seems sturdy enough

Prices would have to be changed just before I get enough money to buy it.:(
