If you say you're feeling old at 22, you WANT to be old...

We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell ‘em stories that don’t go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

It's perfectly understandable to feel freaked about getting older, becoming an adult, leaving carefree teen years behind etc... that's extremely reasonable. I'd be surprised if there was anyone who didn't have even an inkling of anxiety about the above... but saying "I'm old" or "I'm feeling old" in your 20s and 30s especially - what sort of idiotic sh1t is that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 726 ✭✭✭abi2007

seriously op would wana grow up!

I could do with growing up a bit more tbh. Friends of mine seem to be getting married and doing sensible stuff. However, I still like drinking to excess and laugh at the sound of farts.

And get satisfaction from the look on peoples faces when they smell your farts.

I'm 25. I tells ya the young ones are spoiled these days. I remember the days before we had the likes of YouTube to watch videos and didn't have the choice of nearly every song on earth to listen to and Wikipedia to settle arguments. Good times.

    I turn 30 next week.
Not sure how i feel about that yet...

EDIT: It actually looks old now that i see it written down!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,095 ✭✭✭Wurly

    I never feel old.

You might as well embrace the age you are. No point moaning about it as there is nothing you can do about getting older anyway.

If you think you're old now - imagine how you'll feel in ten years time. Also, there will always be someone older than you to point and laugh at.:D

30 wasn't half as bad as 29 for some reason....anything with 9 at the end seems to have a finality about it.

Naw not really. Funny I feel less "old" now at 41 than I did at 29. Go figure. I was much less together then and felt more tired in a general way. Had the grey hair on the head at 22, so no change there:D. A few women added to them. In the nethers, well the first grey was only 2 years ago. Now I've got a clump. Very fetching actually. It looks like a big nosed* hero you see on the cover of catherine cookson romance novels. I'm thinking of calling the old chap "Heathcliff".

*obviously. This is the interweb where all men make donkeys ashamed...

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Into my 40's here and no problem with it at all

    * lying swine * :rolleyes:

Seriously doesn't bother me because if it did , I would be lying through my teeth and saying I was ...29 ....ish .....maybe .

Point being you are the age you are ,enjoy the fruits of your wisdom .This is hollywood ,were anything is possible and remember, people only fart in real life - not Hollywood .

This is Hollywood right ?

Volvoboy I propose two solutions to you:

    - stop working as a taxi driver, it seems to turn them all into grouchy old gits.

    - change your username to VolvoOAP

    :)
