College and the Dole????????

    I am currently working, but I have applied to return to college as a mature student in Sept. 2009.
    I will be handing my notice to my employer in May and will return to college in September. (unemployed for duration between two dates).

    I am unsure of the rules for receiveing the "dole" and wondered if anyone knew whether I could claim the dole and how long it takes??

    Im going away for 6 weeks on May 30th so I was hoping to claim the dole while I was unemployed for this period...I know its kind of like cheating but everyone who knows Im going away has told me to do this!

    Also I do not plan to stay on the dole while in college (I dont think they pay much during college anyway think it goes to getting grants etc.?), I plan to work part-time.

    Any advice will be handy!
