    yeah I know what you are talking about - used a couple years ago and the women I met were very keen on gettin down to it within the first date or two. Made me wonder if they were all just hornbags lookin for a jump or if there was any genuine women on them. Although having said that, I did meet some very genuine women on a couple of them. I think there are enough around at the moment that are either very cheap or free so I wouldn't go paying for one. Have you tried Facebook either? That is good for weeding out nutters and getting to know someone for a while before meeting them..

    see the idea that people pay for the sites gives a bit of hope that people on them might be a bit more serious than the loons on a social network free sites.............they could be as bad as the moderators here ( thats a joke don,t go getting all uptight again moderator ;) ,,,,,,,,,,,,)

    yep that would seem logical but in my experience it doesn't always pan out that way. I suppose you could always just cast your net wide and pay for one and be on a few free ones too?
    I was on 2 about 7 or 8 years ago - MF and (can't even remember the name of the other one).
    You may not meet the right person but you'll definitely have some fun for a while. After a few months of it though I decided against meeting people off them cos it was too much effort sorting out who was for real from who was a bit odd or was lying about something or hiding something etc..

    Then again - you may actually meet the right person, it seems a lot of people do. I would say it's worth spending around the 30 quid mark, spend about 3 months on a site and then you'll have seen enough to know whether you could be bothered or not.

    One thing I found really weird was on MF - it seems it has a huge group of men and women who hang out together as part of the "MF Gang" and have no interest in dating; only hanging out and 'accepting' new people into the folds. One girl I met said she had no interest in meeting anyone, yet there she was having accepted a date from me and sitting drinking the beer I had bought her. I explained that actually I did want to meet someone but she just looked blankly at me. They often organised non dating events it seemed - which I for one found confusing cos that's the attraction of a dating site - no looking for a wedding ring, hints to see if there's a boyfriend etc.. (although tbh you still need to do that on those sites too)

    OK sorry for the ramble...

    its expensive, and full of (IMHO) fake posts.*
    When you do a search you have to weed out the tons of very old profiles from months/years ago.

    well

    being able to see who's online now so you can figure out if they are not responding to you then they are def not interested as opposed to just not on the site at the moment

    an indicator of the last time they were on (see above)

    an indicator of how far away from you they live

    an indicator of what they are looking for - friendship/dating/marriage etc..
    This can help sort out who's either too frivolous or too serious for your situation..

    ehmm...

    I think they are all pretty much the same after that. I think you should concentrate more on which ads to invest your time in responding to rather than which site to use. That Plenty of Fish one rings a bell..
    Once you see a pic of the girl and get to the point of swapping emails instead of having to log back on through the site you are laughing.

    Oh and I suppose it would be best to pick a well known one so there are more people on it..

    Nope - was never interested in paying for some russian bird to escape her crappy situation at my expense, come to Ireland and pretend to fall in love with me then start shagging everything around me.

    Or a ladyboy who wanted to get out of prostitution and pay for the rest of the operation.

    Long distance within Ireland never worked out for me either, let alone from further afield!

    (oh and I still have all my own teeth too :D )

    Depends on if your sick of porn and want somthing more reality based. Then yes, they are most certainly worth having a toss or two over.

    I'd say your experience on dating sites varies enormously as to whether you're a man or woman. The odds can be highly stacked in the women's favour, with far more male members than female.

    women of 50 still posting photos of them as they were in their 20's, women who claimed they were "average" build turning out to be so fat their fingers were swollen beyond the limits of their rings, women who claimed they wanted a boyfriend yet were busy shagging the next guy off the site before they even finished with the last guy, there's more but it was a long time ago and I tend not to hold on to negatives - like I said: great if you wanna have fun and get laid a lot and it would seem to work romantically for some...
