    Hi all,

Am considering both these gyms. They seem similar in price - here's what I've been quoted.

Total Fitness: First month €150 (includes joining fee) and €65 a month thereafter.

Jackie Skelly: No joining fee and €55 a month

I am hesitant about Jackie Skelly because we had the most amazing (in a bad way) encounter with their Sales person. He was the exact same as a car salesman - you know the usual - 'I'll have to check that discount with the manager, this offer is only good for today'. Bull. He was so slick I can't believe he was able to stand up.

I really liked the Sales guy inTotal Fitness - seemed straight up and honest, but still feel it's a bit too expensive.

    Any advice???

I don't know anything about Jackie Skelly's but there are many threads on here with negative feedback about them.

I am a member of Total Fitness. I have been using the Blanchardstown one mainly these days but the Sandyford one is excellent. Plenty of equipment, good classes and nice staff. Nice pool area too.

Maybe you should try haggle them down on price or see if there are any special offers.

That's weird. Total Fatness (:D) for me was only 500e for the year....in M'hide road though!

I've been a member of both over the past few years simply due to location.

TF is large, clean, there are plenty of machines, and never incredibly over crowded, you'll get plenty of assistance from the staff or personal trainiers if you ask.

JS, is small, but seems to manage, usually there are spare machines, the staff are friendly, but a little disgruntled i guess you could say, the sales team are exactally as you described, if you dont sign up now you life will end.

Really it's all about what you want out of a gym, both gyms have good external personal trainers, and plenty of quipment.

One thing i will say, i'm in JS at the moment simply due to how close it is to where i live.

I really like TF Sandyford. Although I only paid about 450e because I can get a student card from the law society. Student card and getting paid = amazing.

Big, clean, spacious. Lots of equipment for free weights (which I only use it for). Loads of machine elsewhere which frees up the free weight section. Indoor track. Pool. Sauna. Apparently you'll get a cardio machine even at peak hours (according to friend).

Not worth 865e though. No gym is. Thats insane! I'd just buy a lot of home equipment.

agree with sangre, TF is great, the free weight area is the size of the whole jackies kellys gym :D, i honestly couldnt see a serious weightlifter getting use out of JKS they havent even got a bench press! or any adjustable barbells, they only have the smith frames... that being said if u just want to do cardio and use the pool, jackies kellys is just as good
