    Hi guys,

Which would be better for weight loss and general toning? A gym or going to curves? I could do curves on my lunch break....or the gym maybe 3 times a week?

    Thanks

In my opinion the gym, went to Curves for a month after winning membership a few years ago and felt it was for older women. Maybe that was just my one but I never sweated and didn't feel any real benefit.

Curves is good to get you used to the habit of the gym but if you went for more than 6 months you'd stop seeing results. Still if you've never gymmed before it's a helluva lot less intimidating than a gym and it really does only take 30 mins which is handy and probably enough for a beginner.

Definitely gym. Curves will drive you mad with boredom after a month. However, if you look at the sugar substitutes in the supermarket, it looks like you can get a free month in Curves if you buy a packet of Splenda. So you could always do the free month, and then decide if you want to stick with it or join a real gym.

One advantage of gyms: the eye candy is so much better.

For "general toning", you will want to be lifting big heavy weights, I doubt curves have those.

I joined curves a few years ago! I suppose it would be good for an older person who hadn't done any exercise in a long time or someone who was very overweight and needed to start somewhere!! But for a young person who is looking to get fit I don't think curves is the way to go about it!
Their machines are set up in a circuit and you just go from one machine to another when your told!! You don't adjust the weights to suit so your constantly doing this circuit that your body will have gotten used to after only a few weeks!!!
It's not cheap either & they don't even have showers!! (the one i was in didn't anyway!!)
Gym is the way to go!!!
