    Hi
moonbugs wife here, easier to use his login than registering anew:).
    I hope nobody minds.
Was having a quick read over some threads here, v.interesting to a newbie on the fitness quest.
I need some help with working out a good routine.
    For the last four to six weeks I have been doing the following;
Monday; walk 3-5miles or gym if weather bad; at gym-30min threadmill, 10-15min rowing machine and 15min cross trainer.
Tue; yoga. If I have energy when kids are in bed I do weights 20-30 arms with dumbells, sit ups, and some stretching/yoga moves
Wed: walk or gym as above.
Thur; Pilates class. Have been curious about this for a long time and got the chance to try out now.
    Fri; Spin class 1hr
Sat; gym if energy or 30min walk or rest
Sun; Rest unless saturday was rest day, otherwise 30-45min walk.

Now all was going well enough until last week I just had a major energy slump, which I am finding hard to recover from.
There were a few nights with waking kids so the lack of sleep had a major impact on my routine.

I really just need advice on what would be a good routine, reasonable to maintain just to get and stay fit, (bear in mind normal life continues, 2 kids and usual household stuff during day).
I really have 1hr in the morning or 2 lots of 30mins to play around with during the day.
I love walking and go really fast if all things are in my favour.
I love the gym too, esp rowing maching and threadmill which is a big change for me.
I do enjoy the weights but if I am tierd I won't do these, was in a great routine every second evening doing these.
I really enjoy all of the activities even Spinning which used to kill me at the start but now I love the workout. I was thinking of working upto 2classes a week...
If I don't enjoy stuff I tend to pack it in.
I have lost inches and was v.happy with progress until the energy slump.
Am I doing too much or what?
Food wise I am pretty good, wholewheats, homecooked fayre all the time, and as the feel good from exercise and energy levels took over, the urge for crap disappeared.

    Any tips please.
    Thanks.
    M's wife :)

    Mrs Moonbug, well done!

Your routine is very good! For cardio to be effective you should be looking to do 3-5 days a week which you are!
I know its hard to get the buzz goin to do weights when your really not up for it but Twice I think you should! A beginner all body programme would be a good base to start out on. pm me and il show you an example. There are many benefits to weight training!
Dont beleive the myth you will get stocky, would never happen. But you will have a higher resting heart rate and a reduced risk of bone disease to name a couple!
Eh what else! yoga and pilates, great! improve your flexibility and help reduce any stress. Spin class is a great fat burner, your talking 700 cals an hour used!

Dont think your doing too much at all, you have found a well balanced week! Like you said you have more energy and your diets sounds good. Make sure its balanced and your getting the right nourishment and youl be grand!

Well done Mrs Moonbug! keep it up and keep us posted!

    Maxxie
Thanks a million for your reply and advice.
It is great to get some feedback.
I love doing weights, and have noticed nice shape coming to my arms (especially) but legs too over a quick period of time.
This is good motivation for me.
I will pm for a good workout as I think this is where I fall down, same stuff over and over and would like to see alternatives/new way of doing stuff.
I would love to work up to two or three spin classes a week as I get a great kick out of them and feel it's good quality hour put in, so working upto that.
I adore yoga, I am quite flexible anyway but love the feeling of being stretched beyond what I thought possible.
Pilates...just clicked with me last class about halfway through I was feeling it. My third class only so am going to stick with that one too.
I guess for me the killer is not getting enough sleep, ie if kids awake or whatever, so have to roll with that as and when.
Thanks so much for feedback, good to know I am on track and will stick with it.
I am pleasantly surprised how you notice changes in yourself so quickly if you persist. I used to cycle miles back in the day..and I feel that buzz again. It's brilliant.
    Mrs M.
