How often do you take a week off weight lifting?

and does you continue to eat your normal diet and does your weight go up? Just interested to hear peoples experiences.

I tend to take a week off every 3 months or so. Last time I took a week off (cause I had the flu) was around the end of November, I continued eating the same as I always do and I think I probably gained more weight in that week than I have done in any week of weight lifting.

I am taking a week of now as my energy levels have completely plummeted at the minute for some reason. Felt like my legs were going to go a few times in work this week and just feel completely drained. Don't think I'm overtraining or anything since I only work out every 2 days but perhaps my body just needs a break.

I never take a week off, as such, as I never feel the need to because I don't really push myself too hard at the gym. I go 3-5 times per week - 30% cardio, the rest weights. I'm in great shape, but I rarely sweat there and I'm never sore after a workout. I think I need a stint in the army or something to toughen me up and give me more of an appetite for pain!

if you never sweat and never get sore after the gym id guess you could do with upping the intensity

when you say great shape, how much do you weigh? whats your height?how much do you lift?

    I'm six-foot zero and I weight about 83kg.

There's no question about it, I should definitely up the intensity! I'm currently reading that SAS guy's book that came free with "Men's Health" this month, and his tales of Iraq etc are shaming me into resolving to change things.
